DPS Jammu Celebrated Earth Day

Nurturing the belief that the Nation’s future depends upon the well-educated students (youths), DPS Jammu organised a power-packed day on the occasion of Earth Day i.e. 22nd April, 2015. The day started with the Morning Assembly organized by class VII. The “Earth Day Pledge” kindled the fire in young minds to make themselves today’s ‘Eco-Kids’. A short skit was also organized stressing upon our attitudes and concerns about the environment by providing concrete actions and behaviors to actively tackle climate changes.

Thereafter, various activities took place in every nook and corner of the school campus. Additional Director / Principal Dr. (Mrs.) D. Joseph DPS Jammu and Headmistress (upto Middle school) Ms. Meenu Gupta led the plantation drive, organized by the students of class V. Collage Making Activity was also held where the students painted their thoughts on nature conservation. A ‘Green Walk’ was also organized by the students of class IV that motivated all to keep the planet beautiful as far as possible. The whole school was filled with heartwarming and ecologically poignant art works and displays done by the students.

Class VI increased awareness by making Posters on the theme “Pollution Free Earth”. A Collage Making Activity was also organized for the students of class VII on the theme “Let’s make Earth a beautiful place.” Class VIII profusely painted on “Wild Life”. A Paper Bag Making Activity was also planned. These activities proved to be a boon for the young & budding artists whose creativity knew no bounds. Later a group of smart Eco-Kids went on an awareness programme to the city’s Wave Mall to spread awareness about environment safety as well as protection measures. Beautiful handmade paper bags prepared by the students were gifted to the store owners there. They actively protested against increasing earth issues such as environment deterioration, air & Water pollution, ozone layer deterioration, industrialization etc.

While speaking on the occasion, Headmistress (upto Middle school) Ms. Meenu Gupta stressed that together we can make everyday earth day and every person in the school can make a difference. She also suggested to strive for toxic free environment and create green & healthy India using resources sustainably.

Additional Director / Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) D. Joseph DPS Jammu congratulated the students for their brilliant and innovative ideas in promoting awareness. She also blessed them for their bright future.
