Monday, June 8, 2015

Pre-Primary stage is not the stage for formal educational learning. This stage may be characterized by group activities, play-way techniques, number games, story telling etc. Keeping in view this need, a workshop was organized in Delhi Public School, Jammu to equip them with the required tools of pedagogy and make the teaching learning process better and interesting in the classroom. The workshop was conducted by DPS faculty, Ms. Anuradha Rance and Ms. Ritu Kapoor who attended a six months training programme at HRDC Dwarka, New Delhi.
The resource persons stressed that the specific objective of the workshop was to develop the children physically, mentally, emotionally, aesthetically and linguistically & also to empower them to organize meaningful educational games & activities.
Each session at the workshop was enriching where each speaker emphasized on the need for out of the box thinking and innovative teaching learning methodology.
Teachers were divided into groups and involved in various stage activities like puppet show, story telling, rhymes, dramatization etc. The session on story telling was very interesting. The main objective behind conducting this session was to enhance the art of narration. The story was demonstrated by the resource persons using various visual clues & properties like flash cards, charts, illustrations etc. The story related in the poem form gave teachers an idea as to how to make their classroom teaching more effective and interesting.
This interactive workshop was concluded by getting suggestions on how to develop and improve the learning capabilities of the differently-abled children. Overall the workshop was very useful, informative and enriching experience as the teachers learnt different methodologies to make their classroom session more lively and better.
