Students of DPS Jammu attended Gandhi Mandela Cricket Series

Seventy students of DPS Jammu, along with four teachers attended Gandhi Mandela Cricket series played between home inmates of Jammu and Kashmir which held on September 10, at Jammu University Cricket Ground on 10tn September.
It was a historic initiative taken by Gandhi Global family( GGF) in close collaboration with United Nation Information Centre (UNIC), New Delhi, to mark the 70th anniversary of the United Nations . In this tournament, children below the age of 16 from all districts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, were given a chance to display their talent in games as well as spread the message of non-violence and peace across spheres.
Vice Chancellor, Jammu University- Prof. R.D Sharma, IGP Jammu- Mr. Danish Rana, Principal Secretary Income Tax Department –Ms. Sangeeta Gupta, Vice President (GGF) – Mr. S.P Verma and Director UNIC for India and Bhutan- Ms. Kiran Mehra Kerpelan were the dignitaries present on the occasion.
UNIC Director Ms. Kiran Mehra Kerpelan congratulated the organizers and encouraged the teams to participate in full spirit of fair play and team work which would help them in building a peaceful and non-violent future. The Tournament commenced with a splendid inaugural ceremony. The opening match was played between ‘Baal Ram School’ and Baal Nitetan Amphalla’.
The students from DPS participated in the noble cause with their presence in audience and expressed their support for this initiative which focused on the innocent minds of children, aiming to provide them with an insight into the ideas of peace and non- violence and direct their attention toward the career opportunities in the field of sports.
