A weeklong celebration of first anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ culminated with the paying of tributes to the Father of Nation, a Marathon and number of other colorful activities. About 100 students from DPS Jammu along with 30 teachers participated in the Marathon which started at Satwari Chowk and ended at Floriculture Department near Rotary club, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. It was flagged off by Hon’ble Deputy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh J&K state and other dignitaries. Principal DPS, Jammu was also present on the occasion. Students participated with great enthusiasm and promoted the message of “Clean Jammu –Green Jammu”.
In the felicitation function that followed, students of DPS Jammu gave a Musical Presentation dedicated to ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. It focused on the role of people, particularly youth, for making India more clean and green. The ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mr.Kavinder Gupta & Dir Floriculture, Mr. Ashok Gupta.
Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra received an award for the school’s meritorious services rendered during the ‘Swachh Bharat’ Week Drive from 26th September to 2nd October 2015. She congratulated the organizers and thanked them for lending a floor to initiate the campaign. She remarked “Gandhi Jayanti is not an end of Swach Bhart mission, but it marks the beginning of a mission towards Cleanliness”. She also made an announcement of Shahidi chowk area adoption by the School Management, in association with JMC, Town Hall Jammu.
