Delhi Public School Jammu celebrated International Senior Citizens Day

DPS, Jammu organized a programme to celebrate International Senior Citizens Day, today, in the school premises where many senior citizens of Jammu city and from the school besides VIPs , Prominent Citizens, staff and students were present on the occasion. Mr. Gafur Masih, a retired Electrical Engineer and eminent Senior Citizen from St. Paul’s Church, was the Guest of Honour.
The programme began with the welcome address by Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal of the school who also recited a beautiful poem dedicated to the senior citizens, on this occasion. A pledge was also taken by the students to respect, take care and help the elders as it will earn blessings for them automatically for their bright future. .
Students presented various performances like song, speech and poems to show their love, affection and concern for their grandparents and elders. A poem was also recited by Ms. Neeru Chopra teacher to depict the importance of elderly members in a family.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gafur Masih appreciated the efforts of the students for presenting beautiful programme. He also shared his personal experiences with the audience. He said “Elder people are like a big tree that saves us from the adversities of life and no society can succeed without the blessings of elderly people.”
The vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress. She also shared her views and said that it is an opportunity to celebrate and value the wisdom and achievements made by the senior citizens. The function concluded with a National Anthem.
A competition of essay writing was also held on the theme “Spending Quality time with Grandparents”. All the students from primary to senior wing participated and penned down their thoughts of love and affection for their grandparents and elders.
