Three days workshop organized by Delhi Public School Society New Delhi at Delhi Public School Jammu concluded today

A three day long workshop from 27th – 29th November, 2015 on Enrichment Programme: Teaching English for classes VI-VIII organized by DPSS Society, New Delhi and hosted by DPS Jammu concluded today. DPS Society organizes such workshops for the teachers from time to time to hone their teaching skills and make teaching and learning an enriching experience. The purpose of the three day workshop was to make learning English for the middle classes more productive and make teaching and learning a fruitful experience for the teachers and the students.
Various sessions in the workshop enriched the teachers about enhancing their language skills by using different methods. Developing reading and writing skills along with the use of phonetics was emphasized. Apart from preparing effective question papers, use of theatre as an effective learning tool and using ICT and Multiple Intelligence theory was discussed in detail.
Assessment of learning and speaking skill, which is now made mandatory by CBSE, was also explained in detail by the Resource persons. At the conclusion of the workshop, the dance troupe of DPS Jammu gave a mesmerizing performance on the theme of joy of school life which was applauded and enjoyed by the audience.
Addressing the delegates and others Ms. Vinita Kher Director, CEM-DPSS stated that teachers must use textbooks as a tool only. She explained the vision and mission of the DPS Society and stated that the teachers must be aware of it and try to imbibe it in their teaching. She also stated that she expects the DPS teachers to understand and follow the National Framework for English -2005
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS Jammu stated that we may forget Mathematics and History but the inherent goodness one learns through the process of education, especially during the English class remains with him forever. She thanked Ms. Vinita Kher, the Program Director and Convener, Director CEM Incharge HRDC, the DPS Society New Delhi and Mr. B. P. Khandelwal, Member – Training & Inspection for their best wishes and support for making the enrichment programme a great success. She also extended a heartfelt thanks to the Management DPSS stating that it constituted the strong bedrock upon which DPS Jammu stands today as one of the best and largest CBSE schools in J&K.
The vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Menu Gupta Headmistress DPS, Jammu. She expressed her gratitude to SH. V.K Shunglu Ji, Hon’ble Chairman, DPSS, New Delhi and Sh. B.P Khandelwal Hon’ble member working committee for interesting the responsibilities hosting this land mark event to DPS Jammu. She also thank Ms. Vinita Kher Hon’ble Director (CEM) DPSS New Delhi for her kind guidance and inspiration from time to time to host this enrichment programme successfully.
She also thanked all the Resource persons who helped in making this Enrichment Programme a rich and memorable learning experience for all participants, and also the delegates without whose cooperation this enrichment programme would not have been fully successful .
Ms. Ruchi Chabra Principal also thanked Sh. V.K Shunglu Ji Hon’ble Chairman DPSS New Delhi, Ms. Vinita Kher, Hon’ble Director (CEM) and all the resource persons for making the Enrichment programme a great success. She along with Ms. Meenu Gupta Headmistress DPS Jammu, Mr. R. K Verma Principal DPS Katra and Ms. Vandana Sharma Headmistress DPS Katra also presented a token of love to Ms. Vinita Kher Hon’ble Director (CEM). Ms. Vinita Kher, Hon’ble Director (CEM), Ms. Ruchi Chabra Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress DPS Jammu and Mr. R.K Verma Principal SMVDU Katra distributed the certificate and gifts to all the delegates.
