DPS Teachers attended the Workshop on ‘The objectives of teaching Social Science at secondary stage’.

Two days capacity building programme on challenging areas in Social Science was held on 19th and 20th Feb 2016 at Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu. The Resource persons were Mr Madan Sawhney and Ms Navneet Ahuja .On the first day, Mr Madan Sawney discussed the topic ‘What are the objectives of teaching Social Science at secondary stage’ and methodology of teaching Social science. The Resource person Ms Navneet Ahuja conducted group activity related to methodology of teaching . Delegates were divided into four groups; each group had one group leader who got a topic to be discussed amongst the member of the group. After that, leader of the groups presented the topic in front of all the delegates. Ms Navneet Ahuja presented a power point presentation on the use of map in the teaching of Social science. Second day session began with the presentation of best practices going on in the schools by delegates of different schools. Mr Madan Sawhney explained the ‘Tools and Techniques of Evaluation and how to frame questions by using Bloom’s Taxonomy and how questions are being framed for the board examination. In the last session, activity was done in which all delegates were divided into groups and they had to perform a drama on Mughal Kings. After the completion of the programme certificate of participation were awarded to the participants.
