DPS JAMMU SWEEPS VICTORY IN ZONAL LEVEL SPORTS EVENTS

Delhi Public School, Jammu won galaxy of medals and prizes in various sports events organized by Department of Youth Service & Sports in Gymnastics, Yoga, Rope Skipping, Tennis Ball Cricket and Swimming on 20th May 2016. The DPS team won all the league matches and defeated Model Academy by 8 wickets in the final match in Tennis Ball Cricket Zonal Tournament. Earlier, Model Academy had set a target of 56 runs in 6 overs by losing 2 wickets. In return, DPS Jammu chased the target in 5.1 overs by losing only 1 wicket. Umang Gupta and Anmol Manhas of Class X, made unbeaten 24 and 21 runs respectively. The DPS Gymnastics team- Manav Gupta IX D, Yatharth Sharma VIII I, Samanvi Sharma VI E and Pari Sharma VI B, won four Gold Medals and brought the laurels for the School in Zonal Level Gymnastics Tournament . Further, Vidhushi – VIII F(Free Style) and Ankur X J (30 sec Speed Sprint) won Gold Medals in Zonal Level Rope Skipping Competition. Whereas, Mohd. Hamza Raiz-VII I, Shubhdeep-VI G and Lachiya Angral- VI E won first position in Zonal Level Yoga Competition. Earlier, in swimming U/14- Boys Divyan Sharma – VII I won 2 Gold Medals in 200 mtr & 400 Mtr Free Style, Vansh Sharma-VI E won Gold Medal in 200 mtr Breast Stroke, Devansh-VIII B won Gold Medal in 100 Mtr Back Stroke, while in U/14-Girls, Vaniya Suri-VII A won Gold and Silver Medals in 50 mtrs and 100 mtrs Back Stroke respectively. In U/17-Boys, Bhuvandeep Singh-IX E won Bronze Medal in 100 mtr Free Style in the Zonal Level Swimming Competition orgnised by the department. All teams have qualified for the district level tournaments which will be organized later.
Hon’ble Director DPS Jammu Mr. S S Sodhi congratulated all teams and their coaches- Mr. Sudesh Manhas, Mr. Suresh, Ms Veena Chib, Ms Damini, Mr. Ravinder and Ms Preeti Gupta for these achievements and wished them success for future tournaments.
