DPS Jammu Clinches First Position in the 4th J&K Science Congress

Delhi Public School, Jammu lifted the overall winner's trophy for its innovative project on Bio Plastics, in the 4th J& k Women Science Congress organised by J& K State Science Technology and Innovation Council, DST, Jammu held from Sept 1-3, 2016 at Govt. Women's College, Gandhi Nagar. Sh. Kavinder Gupta,Speaker, Legislative Assembly who was the chief guest on the occasion, gave away the coveted prizes to the winners.
During the congress which lasted for three days, first two days were devoted to exhibitions by college & school students, open presentations, symposiums and guest lectures.
The third day saw a very enriching student- scientist interaction, followed by evaluation of the exhibits by eminent scientists and science professors of the state - Prof Bawa, (Physics), Prof Satpal Sharma and Prof Sarita (Chemistry).
The most innovative and cost effective idea put forth by DPS Jammu on producing bio plastics with the help of banana peels, won much applause from all and was declared first among all teams from other colleges & schools of the state.The school team was represented by Arpita Magotra, Sarthak Aggarwal, Maheep Jain and Jaskirat Singh of class IX-D. They were guided in this project by Dr. Gurmeet Kour & Ms Manika Verma, senior science faculty of the school.
Congratulating the students and the faculty,Ms Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS Jammu said that students needed to delve more into contemporary environmental & developmental issues and come up with viable eco friendly ideas.
M.K.Sh. Ajatshatru Singh, President RCT& MLC, govt of J&K, Kunwrani Ritu Singh, PVC, DPS Jammu & Sh.S.S.Sodhi, Director, DPS Jammu also appreciated the young DPS scientists and wished them for their bright future.
