Delhi Public School Jammu(A Unit of Rajput Charitable Trust) organized an impressive function in the premises of the school and paid rich tributes to Mahraja Hari Singh ji, erstwhile ruler of Jammu & Kashmir state on his 121st Birth Anniversary. The celebrations commenced with floral tributes to the legendary king led by garlanding the statue of Maharaja Sahib by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Speaker J & K Legislative Assembly Sh.Kavinder Gupta Ji,along with Guests of Honour – Sh.Rajesh Gupta Hon’ble MLA Jammu East, Sh.Ashok Khajuria Hon,ble MLC,.S.Charanjeet Singh Khalsa Ji, Hon’ble MLC, Sh. Ramesh Arora Ji, Hon,ble MLC J&K, Shri Danish Rana Ji, Hon’ble IGP, Jammu, S. Manmohan Singh Ji, Commissionor Municipal Corporation, Jammu & Shri M S Jamwal, Secretary, Rajput Charitable Trust, Jammu. It was followed by Tilak Ceremony, lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the dignitaries and Ganesh Vandana.
Sh.Kavinder Gupta ji, Hon’ble Chief Guest in his address thanked the Management, DPS Jammu, for inviting him on such an auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of an illustrious king of J&K who signed the Instrument of accession with India on October 26, 1947. He said that it was because of his great wisdom and statesmanship that we are part of the great country -India, today. He also appreciated Maharaja Sahib for doing away with many social evils for the welfare of the public. The Guests of Honour also expressed their views and praised about the various welfare deeds done by Maharaja Hari Singh Ji during his more than 25 years as king of J&K State. They also expressed their happiness for being a part of this this programme and also showered the praises on the children who gave scintillating performance in varied items. Senior citizens from Old Age Home and other places who were also invited to grace the occasion were also felicitated with blankets, sweets etc by the Chief Guest & Guest of Honours.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri S.S. Sodhi PVC/Director Delhi Public School Jammu /Katra /Udampur / Leh/ Nagbani highlighted the welfare deeds of Maharaja Sahib during his over 25 years of rule beginning from 1925. He praised Maharaja Hari Singh ji, as a great visionary, true patriot, progressive thinker and social reformer who made welfare of the general public, the purpose of his life and dedicated his whole life to achieve this object. He also thanked Hon’ble Speaker J & K, Hon’ble MLA and Hon’ble MLC’s, J & K Govt., Hon’ble IGP, Jammu & Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Jammu for sparing there valuable time out of their busy schedule for gracing the occasion. Mr. Sodhi also felicitated the Hon’ble Chief Guest and all Guests of Honour.
Earlier the welcome address was presented by Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS, Jammu who narrated the various welfare deeds done by Maharaja Sahib for the welfare of the general public and urged the gathering to rededicate their lives to the values and principles of Maharaja Sahib and make a difference in the world like him. She also apprised the gathering about the various achievements of the premier institution.
The function saw enthusiastic participation of the students in breathtaking cultural performances viz. Dogri Folk Dance, Dogri Folk Song, Classical Vocal Presentation, Classical Dance, Poetry recitations, etc which were highly appreciated by the audience. The function culminated with Vote of Thanks delivered by Meenu Gupta, Headmistress, followed by the National Anthem.
