DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES CHILDREN’S DAY

‘Children’s Day’ marking the Birth anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm in the premises of Delhi Public School, Jammu on 14th November, 2017. On this occasion, a special assembly was conducted by the teachers for the students. The program began with the floral tributes to Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru by the Principal, special guest Sh. Anil Kumar, 2nd in command, CRPF, J&K, staff and students. After the floral tributes, music faculty presented a melodious song “Hey Ishwar”, written and composed by Mr. Jacob Mattoo, Music faculty on ‘Children’s Day', which mesmerized the gathering. Thereafter, a skit on Children’s Day depicting the journey from pre-school to the life of a successful man was presented by the teachers along with the students.
After the cultural program, the felicitation ceremony of the student achievers took place. Nigarish Zehra of class III-I, recipient of the ‘Students of the Year Award-2016-17’ was felicitated by Mr. Anil Kumar, Special Guest from CRPF, with a memento and a letter of appreciation from CRPF, J&K. Next, Abid Wani of class X, the winner of the title of the first Runner Up Mr. J&K IAWA-2017 was felicitated. Both the students spoke on the occasion, sharing their experiences with the audience. This was followed by the felicitation of other winners of different Inter-House and Inter-School level achievers.
Throughout the rest of the day, several thought provoking activities were conducted in the school, such as games and group dance for the Prep wing, awareness workshop on ‘Good touch, bad touch’ for the primary wing, Poster making for the class VIII and Seminar on ‘Entrepreneurship’ for class XI.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra highlighted the importance of the day for the children, gently reminding them of the gratitude they owe to their parents and teachers for all that they do for them.
Headmistress, Ms. Meenu Gupta emphasized on the word ‘Responsibility’ and conveyed her wishes for the bright future.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji extended their best wishes on the occasion of Children’s Day to the staff, students and their families.
