DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES LANGUAGE WEEK

To develop an awareness in students about the importance of reading books in various languages and to foster a spirit of Internationalism among the students, DPS Jammu celebrated Language Week “Your Voice and My Voice : An expression of identity,” as a part of ongoing ISA activities in the school.

Various activities in different languages were organized. ‘Enact ‘N’ Enrich’- A skill to master languages, helped the students in using common day golden words. Further, as modern day e-mails have given a back seat to the art of letter writing, to revive this practice, a ‘Letter Writing’ activity was also organized. Children wrote and responded to letters of many kinds. A game to enrich vocabulary of the students in different languages ‘Word Brouillar - Shabadanaam Sansar’ was played which culminated through a bulletin board activity. ‘Virtuous Vaudeville’, a skit performed by students on moral values was also a part of the language week in which children were made aware of the fact that knowledge of foreign languages nurtures wider outlook on the world. World renowned Indian movies were shown to the students to give them a glimpse of art and techniques of cinematography used in like dubbing of films from English to Hindi or other vernacular languages and vice versa.

The fun-filled language week ended with the special assembly on the theme ‘Language Carnivalesque’ in which students showcased their talent by performing various artistic items such as monologues in English Language, Shlokas in Sanskrit, Dialogues between Gandhi Ji and Modi Ji in Hindi and a melodious song in French language.

Headmistress, DPS Jammu, Ms. Meenu Gupta, applauded the students for their efforts. She stressed on the importance of various languages and innovative teaching in the scenario of modern education.

Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra appreciated the efforts of participants. She encouraged them to equip themselves as polyglots, so that they have necessary wherewithals for availing possible chances of globetrotting in their lives.

Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji extended their best wishes to staff and students for organizing the language week.
