DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU/NAGBANI/KATRA HOLD PLANTATION DRIVE

In an effort to restore the balance of eco-system and to inculcate awareness about the green environment among children, staff and students of DPS Jammu/Nagbani/Katra undertook mass plantation drive in all their respective school campuses. The project 'upvan drive' was initiated by Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji, Pro-Vice Chairperson as a tribute to nature and to nurture a sense of responsibility among the young children of today. Various saplings of Arjun, Gulmohar, Neem, Amla, Jamun, Reetha, Behra, Hard, Aloe Vera, Tulsi, etc. were planted by the children who also took a pledge to take utmost care of these plants in the school. Also present on the occasion was Mr. B.S Jamwal, Retd. Director, Horticulture Department, J&K who interacted with the children and explained them the importance of medicinal plants.
The respective Principals/Heads of the three schools-Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Mr. Raj Kumar Verma and Ms. Vandana Sharma also spoke on the occasion and encouraged everybody for tree plantation. They also thanked parents for extending their cooperation for making the' upvan drive' successful.
Hon'ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon'ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon'ble Director, Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji conveyed their best wishes to the students and teachers for organizing the Plantation Drive, as is will go a long way not only to purifying the atmosphere but will also help in balancing the eco-system and enhancing the knowledge the of the students about the various plants.
