DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU OBSERVES ANTI TERRORISM DAY

DPS Jammu observed Anti Terrorism Day on 22nd May, 2018 in the school premises. The whole function aimed at bringing awareness regarding dangers of Terrorism and Violence and its effects on people, society and Nation as a whole. Various activities were organized on this day including Inter-House Group Song Competition.
Mr. Suraj Singh, HOD, Vocal Musical Department, Music & Fine Arts College, Jammu was the judge of the Inter-House Group Song Competition. The anchors of the programme extended the heartiest welcome to the judge Mr. Suraj Singh, Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Headmistress, Ms. Meenu Gupta and other dignitaries.
The programme commenced with the Inter-House Group Song Competition in which senior students of the school represented their Houses. The songs selected for the competition mainly focused on the message of global peace and non-violence and also through their songs they conveyed their tribute to the thousands of soldiers who battled against terrorism. Each House showed their mastery over voice modulation, rhythm and music notes. Ganga House bagged first prize and Sh. Ashok Kapoor Rolling Trophy for Best Performance in Inter-House Group Song Competition. This rolling trophy has been dedicated to Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji’s Late Father Sh. Ashok Kapoor Ji who was a connoisseur of fine arts and music. The second prize was clinched by Tawi House. Yamuna House was declared third.
While addressing the audience, Headmistress, Ms. Meenu Gupta said that the music can be the best medium to bridge the gap and to promote peace and brotherhood.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra in her address said that the purpose of this function was to pay tribute to the martyr and spread awareness that we have to fight this menace to bring peace and prosperity in our lives.
The winners of the group song competition were felicitated by the guest Mr. Suraj Singh who lauded the efforts of the all the participants and congratulated the winners. He said that the terrorism is the global phenomena which must be addressed comprehensively. This aim can be achieved by organizing such functions in schools and colleges. He also enthralled the audience with his musical performance.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra felicitated the Chief Guest and thanked him for sparing his valuable time from his busy schedule. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Anil Dogra, House Warden, Ganga House, while the programme was compered by Malvika Kesar (XI-F) & Aarshiya Iqbal (XI-C).
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji urged the children to always remember the services and sacrifices of the soldiers in combating terrorism in the country and advised them to take the path of peace and prosperity.
