DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES DIWALI

DPS Jammu celebrated Diwali with great devotion, enthusiasm and excitement. The whole school wore a festive look with diyas, pots and lanterns, adorning the school. A Special Assembly was organized for the students on this auspicious occasion. The Multipurpose Hall, where the cultural extravaganza was held, came to life with festivities that captured Diwali like look.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra alongwith other dignitaries lit the lamp to begin the assembly. A group song ‘Aayi Diwali’ sung by the students of Primary wing, Dandiya dance and other dance presentations in traditional costumes, highlighting the diversities across the country, mesmerized the audience.
Gulsmile of IX-G acquainted the children about the significance of Green Diwali and highlighted the need of celebrating cracker free Diwali and spreading joy and love, not pollution. Welcoming the festival of lights, the students from Pre-Primary to Senior Wing unfolded their creative abilities through several activities like painting of diyas and candles, toran making, poster making. Further, Student Council of the school conducted Quiz and gave a very informative & lively PPT presentation on ‘Green Diwali’ for the children of primary & middle wings. Not only this, the students avidly participated in a signature campaign for green Diwali and exhibited their art by decorating their classes and soft boards, with diyas, rangoli and meaningful posters.
On this occasion, a felicitation ceremony was also held for the students who brought laurels to the school by winning various medals in International, National and state level events. The certificates and medals were presented to the students by the Principal alongwith other dignitaries. They congratulated the achievers and motivated them to achieve many more milestones ahead.
While addressing the gathering, Chief Coordinator, Ms. Umesh Sharma highlighted the need to celebrate a green and noise free Diwali. Headmistress, Ms. Meenu Gupta in her speech also sensitized and advised the children to celebrate a green and cracker free Diwali.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra said that we are blessed to have taken birth in a land of diversity where all festivals bind people in loving grace and abundance. Reiterating the significance of green Diwali, she extended her Diwali wishes to all staff members and students.
The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Anil Dogra, House Warden, Ganga House. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji also extended their best wishes to students, their parents and staff on the auspicious occasion of Diwali festival.
