DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES CHILDREN’S DAY

DPS Jammu celebrated Children’s day with great enthusiasm and gaiety on 14th Nov, 2018 to mark the birth anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. Various activities were organized to mark the event and make it a special day for children.
On this occasion, a Special Assembly was conducted which began with floral tributes to Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru by the Principal, Headmistress and the Coordinators of the school.
After the School Prayer, Pledge & Thought of the Day, the students of middle block presented a colourful dance performance which was highly applauded. The importance and significance of the day was explained through a speech by Vanya Suri of class VIII A.
Another attraction was a soulful song jointly presented by the teachers and the students which mesmerized the audience. The lyrics and music were composed by Mr. Joy Paul & Mr. Jacob Mattoo. It was followed by the group dance by the students of class V who enthralled the audience with their perfect synchronization and lively beats. Next, was the soulful classical rendition in Rag Malkons by Ridhima Bajpai of class VII-A, who was accompanied on Sitar by Akarshit Mehra of X-H & Sarthak Modi of VII-H & Lakshya Jandial of VIII-J on Tabla. The children were guided by Mr. Joy Paul, Mr. Anil Baru & Mr. Daniel Sidhu. This was followed by overwhelming foot-tapping bonanza presented by the children, that won huge applause from the audience. They were guided by Ms. Sheetal Chalotra & Mr. Sanjeet Mehra.
After the cultural programme, the felicitation ceremony of different Inter-District and Inter- DPS level winners took place.
It was a fun-filled day for the students of Pre-primary wing. They arrived in school in colourful attires and were full of excitement. They enjoyed children’s movies, fun-rides and other interesting games. Similarly, there were fun races and games for the children of class II. All the children were given sweets and candies to mark the celebration of this special day.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra shared the greetings conveyed by the Hon’ble PVC, DPS Jammu, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji. She also wished the students a Happy Children’s Day and motivated them to unlock the brilliance present in every child.
Headmistress, Ms. Meenu Gupta thanked the children for inspiring the adults around them and also reminded them of the gratitude they owe to their parents & teachers.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Anil Dogra, House Warden, Ganga House.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji also extended their best wishes to students, their parents and staff on the auspicious occasion of Children’s Day.
