DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES 70TH REPUBLIC DAY

DPS Jammu celebrated 70th Republic Day on 26th January, 2019 with great enthusiasm and fervour in its premises. The programme commenced with the Hoisting of National Flag by the Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, which was followed by the National Anthem and Principal’s address.
Greeting everyone on the occasion, Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra highlighted the importance of the day and the role of Education in Nation Building. She also administered Peace Pledge to the staff on the occasion. This was followed by the release of Tricolour balloons and felicitation of the Principal ma’am by staff members. The school staff presented impressive array of cultural items. Patriotic songs were presented by Ms. Mukti Talwar, Mr. Jacob Mattoo & Mr. Reagon, Classical Violin instrumental rendition in Rag Jai Jai Vanti by Mr. Suresh Baru and on Tabla by Mr. Daniel and Patriotic Poetry presentation by Mr. David Masih.
A day earlier, a special assembly was organized wherein the students expressed their spirit of unity and secularism through a lively cultural performance. The tiny tots of class I presented a group dance which enthralled the gathering. Patriotic songs by the students of middle wing filled the air with patriotism. This was followed by a speech highlighting the significance of Republic Day by Atharv Malhotra of class I-E. Later, an eye-opening skit on the sacrifices of police force, which is ironically portrayed as corrupt, captured the attention and interest of the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, she also said that progress of each individual and the nation are interdependent and thus, everyone requires to consciously safeguard their internal constitution of physical, mental, moral and spiritual well being alongwith their thoughts, words, action and decisions.
The assembly was also addressed by Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress. The School magazines “Jharna” and “Kriti” were also released on the occasion. The winners of different state and national event were also awarded: Shrawani Sharma (VI-K) for clinching gold medal in national dance sports championship 2018-19, Ashutosh Mahajan (VI-E) & Mannat Bedi (VII-C) for representing the J&K state in 64th National School Games 2018-19.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji extended their best wishes to the students, their parents and staff on the occasion of Republic Day.
