9TH J&K RIFLE SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP CONCLUDES AT DPS JAMMU

The 9th J&K Rifle Shooting Championship concluded at Delhi Public School, Jammu with a grand Prize Distribution Ceremony here today. The event was presided over by the Chief Guest, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble President, RCT, MLC-J&K and former Cabinet Minister-Sports/Transport/Tourism & Information. Sh. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, President, J&K Rifle Association was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Rajkumar Sh. Ranvijay Singh Ji, Trustee-Maharaja Hari Singh Social & Education Foundation, Sh. S.S. Sodhi, PVC/Director, DPS Jammu, Sh. Ashish Paul Singh Sodhi were also among the distinguished personalities. All the guests were given a rousing welcome by the school band, NCC, Principal- DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal-DPS Nagbani, Sh. Rajkumar Verma and all other members of the Administration. About 300 men & women shooters of the District Rifle Associations of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Baramulla, Srinagar & JKP alongwith DPS Club Jammu, Kartar Public School-Kathua, General Zorawar Singh Rifle Club, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board-Katra & J&K Police Club, Jammu participated in the said Championship. The Chief Guest on the occasion, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji gave away the medals and certificates to the winners and participants. A total of 16 Gold Medals, 14 Silver Medals and 13 Bronze Medals were won by the shooters in U/15, U/18, U/21 and Open Categories. DPS Jammu students Divyansh & Ojasvini brought laurels to the school by winning gold & silver medals respectively.
The young singers of DPS Jammu presented a soulful patriotic song, while the young dancers of DPS Jammu presented classical dance dedicated to goddess Durga symbolizing women emancipation. The cultural items put together by Mr. Jai Paul Gill, Ms. Sheetal Chalotra and Mr. Sanjeet Mehra were well appreciated by the audience.
The Guest of Honour, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal expressed happiness on the successful completion of the 9th J&K Rifle Shooting Championship. He also congratulated all the winners, organizers and Authorities of DPS Jammu who made all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event. He also called upon the shooters to take advantage of the World Class Shooting Ranges available in the state and hoped that the participating shooters will bring glory to the state in the Olympics, Common Wealth Games and other International Championships in future.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji highly appreciated the authorities of J&K Rifle Association & DPS Jammu for holding the 9th J&K Rifle Shooting Championship very successfully. He also congratulated all participants of the championship particularly the winners and urged the educational institutions to inculcate the Yoga & Meditation in their curriculum so as to nurture the power of focus and concentration among the youth.
The vote of thanks was presented by Hon’ble PVC/Director DPS Jammu and Treasurer, J&K Rifle Association, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji. He specially thanked the Chairman, J&K Rifle Association and Director General of Police, J&K state, Sh. Dilbag Singh Ji for boosting the morale of the young shooters by promoting game of shooting among both boys and girls across J&K state equally.
The programme ended with the National Anthem.
