DPS JAMMU CELEBRATES 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI

Delhi Public School, Jammu organized a special assembly to celebrate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The assembly began with lighting of lamp and paying floral tributes to Gandhi Ji by Principal Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Headmistress Ms. Meenu Gupta and all coordinators of the school. School Prayer was presented by Suryanshi and Sparsh of Class II, followed by a very melodious patriotic group song “Sona Mera Desh” by the students of class II. Krishna Sharma of class III extolled the great virtues of Bapu Ji in his poem “Aisey they Bapu Gandhi”. Further, Dance Drama “Mohan se Mahatma Tak”, giving a glimpses of Gandhi Ji’s life and his transformation to the stature of Mahatma was showcased by the students of class II. Jayita Sharma and Harman Singh, Cub Reporters, presented a report on the activities conducted during Swatchta Pakhwada wherein activities such as Shramdaan, Poster Making, Volunteer Services and Awareness Campaign were held in addition to promotion of Hindi and Sanskrit languages. Khushi Soni of class X-C spoke about the importance and dignity of Hindi language while Smridhi Singh of class VIII-H took the programme to another level with the recital of her poem “Jo Beet Gaye So Baat Gayi”. The final crescendo was built by the students of class I when they sang the inspirational song “Bande Me Tha Dam”, prepared by Mr. Anil Kumar.
Principal, Ms. Ruchi Chabra applauded both students and the teachers for the great assembly. Quoting Gandhi Ji she said, we ourselves need to be the change, if we want to see the change in the world. She urged the students to be that agent of that change. She motivated the students to create a glorious nation and to empower themselves for tomorrow.
Headmistress Ms. Meenu Gupta also appreciated the students and said that celebrating Gandhi Jayanti is not enough, we all need to create Gandhi in ourselves by practicing and abiding by the principles followed by Gandhi Ji.
Felicitation ceremony was held in which students, who won laurels, in different activities held on “Sanskrit Diwas” were given certificates and awards. Dr. Ms. Seema Sawhney, Sanskrit Language teacher was also felicitated on the occasion.
Vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Bharti Munshi, House Warden, Ganga House.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji extended their best wishes on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti .
