HPE/Sewa Activities
Introduction
Health and Physical Education is concerned with total health of the learners and student community. Besides Physical Health, it includes mental and emotional health of the learners. The main goal of health education is to help students adopt and maintain healthy behaviours and to avoid health risks.
HPE in the school is meant for the development of young learners through systematic interventions to improve health knowledge, attitude, skills and behavior. The activities mentioned below are being taught in the class periods allotted to the respective classes of IX, X, XI & XII to improve health, physical fitness and wellness education among the students, as these activities help the children to foster well being in physical, emotional, social level, life skills and behavior.
Strand-I Games/Sports
a) Athletics: Following activities are conducted under athletics:
Track events - Short Distance Races, Middle Distance Races, Long Distance Races, Cross Country Race.
Field events - Jumping events (Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump), Shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw
b) Individual Games: Following individual/teams games are undertaken by the children:
Wushu, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Badminton, Skating, Lawn Tennis, Swimming, Table Tennis and Cricket

Games: The games and physical activities which are being played/undertaken by children to enhance their physical fitness and skills include Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Tennis, Cricket, Mass P.T, Dance, Calisthenics, etc. The School also organizes Picnics, Tours, Life Style Programmes, Tournaments (Basket Ball, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Football, Cricket, Skating, Swimming, Badminton, Athletics), Inter-Class & Inter-School Sports activities.
DPS JAMMU CELEBRATES EARTH DAY
As a step towards inspiring and educating children to take up the responsibility of their Environment, Earth Day was celebrated in DPS Jammu with full zeal and vigour. The whole school actively participated in the Earth Day activities and pledged to take care of their Mother Earth and to keep their environment clean and green.
The children of the Prep Wing were taken for outdoor Nature activities at DPS Nagbani. They were also involved in making beautiful posters and slogans on different animal habitats and colourful paper weights with stones. With a motive of keeping the environment clean and green, students of Primary Wing prepared trash boxes with empty cartons and carried out Plantation Drive and Environment. Awareness Rally in the school premises.
Other thoughtful activities included 'Comic Caper', 'Haiku' Writings, Paragraph Writing, Poetry and Story Writing on the theme of Environment.
DPS JAMMU CELEBRATES ENVIRONMENT DAY
Students of Delhi Public School, Jammu participated in a skit on the occasion of World Environment Day organized by J&K State Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Big 92.7 FM on the theme ‘Beat the Heat’ held on 4th June, 2019. Six schools from Jammu had also participated in the said event in which the skit presented by the students of DPS Jammu was appreciated by all and students were felicitated with Certificates of Merit and Trophy of Appreciation. The students who participated in the competition were:-
Dhruvi Gupta (VIII-A), Ayush Karn (IX-A), Lavanya Sharma (IX-A), Arnav Sharma (IX-A), Pranavanshu Kapoor (IX-A), Sheen Wanchoo (VIII-C), Vedhant Suri (X-E), Adhieshwar Gupta (VII-G), Samarth Gupta (VIII-D), Akshit Nargotra (VII-G) and Tushar Bhagat (VIII-K).
DPS JAMMU ORGANIZES "SAY NO TO PLASTIC" ACTIVITY
Poster & Slogan Writing activity was done on the topic "Say No To Plastic". Skit was also presented on the topic "Save Water" and "Say No to Plastic" by the students of class IX & X. Shramdaan activity was also conducted, under which cleanliness drive was done inside the school campus in various areas.
DPS JAMMU ORGANIZES SEED BALL ACTIVITY
Delhi Public School, Jammu organized Seed Ball activity on 14th Sept, 2019 in the school campus. Students participated with great enthusiasm and fervour in making seed balls. Beginning with the activity the seeds were given proper treatment. Fertilizers and fungicides were well mixed with the clayey soil needed for this activity so that the motive of planting seeds would be fruitful. Its aim was to replant areas where the natural flora has been destroyed. The purpose of seed activity was to make it easy to plant seeds without tilling the ground. The activity was performed by the students of Classes VII & VIII under the guidance of Science teachers. The students were divided into groups and each student made 5 seed balls. One student from each group also presented the views on the importance of making seed balls and they also highlighted the importance of making environment green. The area selected for planting seed balls was Nagbani and adjacent areas. The students were very excited and happy in planting seed balls. The teachers also participated in planting the seeds. The whole activity was done under the expert supervision of senior Horticulturist and Plantation Advisor to DPS Jammu, Mr. B.S Jamwal.
