SOHAM KAMOTRA OF DPS JAMMU EMERGES AS A NATIONAL CHESS CHAMPION

Soham Kamotra (XII-H), an ace level and a top FIDE Chess player from Delhi Public School, Jammu created a history in J&K by emerging as a National Chess Champion in the Open Section of MPL 31st National Under-18 Chess Championship held at Pollachi, Tamil Nadu. Soham also won a cash prize of Rs. 90,000/- in the said event. Soham is also the first ever player from J&K U.T to be fully sponsored by the Govt. of India for World Chess Championship, Asian Chess Championship and Commonwealth Chess Championship. It is noteworthy that he is also one of the highest rated Chess players of J&K state.
Earlier, Soham had also been selected by Indian Chess Federation to represent India in World Youth Chess Championship held in Mumbai and was selected to represent Indian in China & Mexico in Asian Amateur Chess Championship & World Amateur Chess Championship.
Principal-DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, staff, students, and school management congratulated Soham and his parents for the glorious achievement. She said that it is a proud moment for all of us that Soham has made a mark as a National Champion.
Hon’ble President-RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kuwarani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji extended their best wishes to Soham and his parents.
