DPS Jammu Participates in World Environment Day program organized by JMC

Under the noble directive of Kunwarani Ritu Singh Ji, Hon'ble PVC - DPS Jammu, and Founding Chairperson FICCI FLO- JKL, Students, and Staff of DPS Jammu participated in the World Environment Day program organized by JMC at Gandhi Nagar Green Belt Park on 5th June 2022. The children carried out Plantation, Sanitation and Awareness Drives in addition to a song presentation which received great applause from one and all.

The occasion was graced by Hon'ble Dy. Mayor JMC Adv.Ms. Purnima Sharma, Municipal Commissioner - Sh.Rahul Yadav( IAS), Secretary, Sh. Atul Kumar (KAS), and Kunwarani Ritu Singh Ji, Founding Chairperson FICCI FLO- JKL, among other members of the FICCI team, IEC team from JMC, volunteers from NSS, NGO- Disha, UNDP- RUDA, IPCA, and Environment Club members of KC Public School and Delhi Public School Jammu.

The DPS students carried Awareness Placards carrying thoughtful messages on Saving Environment and also presented a mesmerizing Earth Song on the occasion -" Maa Dharti Teri Goud Me".The lyrics of the song conveyed a strong message of preventing soil erosion by planting more trees, stopping deforestation, and reducing carbon and other harmful footprints on Mother Earth.

Later, every child and staff member of DPS planted 'desi gulab' sapling in the demarcated areas of the park, along with other children and volunteers. They also took the Swacchta Pledge on the occasion.

The event which has started from one of the parks adopted by FICCI FLO- JKL on June 5th today, shall be continued for the other 75 wards of Jammu as well.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon'ble Commissioner JMC- Sh. Rahul Yadav highly appreciated the park adoption initiative by FICCI FLO and made the children and the general public aware about the importance of reducing carbon, water, and other harmful footprints on the earth. He also talked about the theme of this year's World Environment Day, which is 'Only one Earth', and urged maximum community participation for realizing the coveted dream of Clean and Green Jammu.

Secretary, JMC Sh. Atul Kumar ( KAS) interacted with the school children and appreciated their efforts, and encouraged them to join hands with JMC by partnering with their several environmental and sanitisation projects.

Hon'ble PVC- DPS Jammu and Founding Chairperson FICCI FLO- JKL, Kunwarani Ritu Singh Ji, the lead visionary behind the Park Adoption Projects in Jammu, thanked JMC officials and apprised everyone present about her well-structured plan for all-around physical, and socio-economic development of all the parks adopted by FICCI. She also shared her idea of women empowerment by appointing and skilling of the women gardeners, carrying out extensive plantation drives, aesthetic landscaping of the green areas, etc.

She stressed on the need of connecting the cause of the environment with young children and youth because they are the future of our planet and thus expected to carry forward the baton of service to Mother Earth done today.

Also present on the occasion were Principal, DPS Jammu- Ms Ruchi Chabra, Dy Headmaster, Mr. Umesh Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Ms. Arti Sharma, and other staff of DPS Jammu.
