Delhi Public School Jammu organizes 'ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPRESS-Version-1.0’

To promote skill, entrepreneurship and leadership among students, in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020, Delhi Public School Jammu organized 'ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPRESS-Version-1.0’- an event inspired and designed on the pattern of the famous Television series 'Shark Tank' on 26th December 2022 for the students of class VIII to XI. The aspiring students entrepreneurs pitched their business models in the similar fashion as the popular series to a panel of investors represented by Aasim Mir (XII) and Aakash Sharma (XI) and persuaded them to invest Units (virtual currency) in their ideas.
Seven different groups comprising two student innovators each from classes VIII to XI presented their thoroughly researched business ideas and product pro types, explaining the investors about their inspiration for their business model, key product features, marketing strategies, growth plan, gross sales, projected sales, net profit, cost of goods, profit margin, etc. The sharks on the other hand, cross-questioned the innovators about their business processes whether P2P, R2R and other practical operational insights necessary for successful entrepreneurship. All the participants well-exemplified the tag line of the event- “A Goal Without a Timeline is just a Dream”.
The highlight of the event was JARVIS- a voice modulated artificially intelligent video system designed and developed by Aakash Sharma (XI) who introduced the program, laid out the ground rules and even concluded the show by acknowledging the efforts of all team members.
Third position was bagged by two teams- Himanshu &Manaswin of class-IX and Saanvi Anand (X-B) and Savya Anand (XI-A) for their respective ideas on portable cancer detection device-SwasthyaSarthi, and biodegradable and eco-friendly sanitary pads- Saahsi. Adaa Mahajan & Bhindeep Kaur stood second for their concept ona stress detecting smart watch-The Wrist Hug, whilethe first position was bagged by Kriday Misri and Vaidik Taggar of class IX who presented the idea of SWACH-X, a device that would enable Garbage detection based on the principle of echolocation. It is noteworthy that Kriday has also applied for the patent of his device- Swach-X. The title of the Best Shark/Investor was bagged by Aakash Sharma(Vice Head Boy).
The event was compered by Sheen Wanchoo (Vice Head Girl) and Akash Sharma (Vice Head Boy) who also looked into the technical management of the whole program. It was judged by Ms. Neeraj Kaila and Ms. Deepti Kandhari, senior Commercefaculty of the school.
Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal, Delhi Public School, Jammu said that there is a great need for start-ups in J&K to capitalise on the skill, creativity and innovation of the youth. She congratulated allparticipants for their brilliant performances and also encouraged them to come up with more such student led programs in future.
Ms. Meenu Gupta, Head Mistress, DPS Jammu, Mr. Umesh Sharma (Dy. Head Master & Chief Coordinator), Ms. MrignainiPathania, Ms.Anu Bali, Ms.Arti Sharma were also present on the occasion. They applauded the efforts of Young Entrepreneurs and motivated them to excel in their future.
Aasim Mir (Head Boy) and Mir Sara (Head Girl) proposed the formal Vote of Thanks.The event ended with the National Anthem.
