DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL JAMMU HOSTS GRAND INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2023

Delhi Public School Jammu with unwavering enthusiasm and fervour solemnized the Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2023-24. The theme for this year’s Investiture Ceremony was ‘Sankalp se Siddhi ki aur-Lead to Inspire.’
The Chief Guest of the event was Ms. Ishita Rathi, an esteemed IAS Officer, currently serving as the Assistant Collector (Under Training) of Jammu. The event also hosted esteemed Guests of Honour, notably Mr. Nirbhay Sudan, a distinguished Chartered Accountant from the class of 2015, Dr. Aneesh Uppal from the class of 2012, and Ms. Jiya Gupta, District Head Coordinator of the 'Kitaab aur Kalam Foundation,' a distinguished alumna from the class of 2021.Dr. Kuwarani Ritu Singh Ji, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chairperson, DPS Jammu presided over the ceremony.The parents of the student cabinet, the school Principal, devoted staff, and the diligent students of the institution were also present on the occasion.

The dignitaries and parents were graciously welcomed by the School Principal and staff along with school band and traditional tilak. The ceremony commenced with the traditional lamp lighting followed by uplifting strains of choir ‘Aao Hum Sab haath milyaien’sung in harmony, giving a message that leadership and learning are indispensable to each other and thrive on team spirit.

The Chief Guest, Ms. Ishita Rathee, IAS offered her heartfelt congratulations to the newly inaugurated student council. Her words carried both wisdom and encouragement as she shared valuable insights with these emerging leadersadvising them to not merely hold positions of authority but to evolve into leaders in their own right. She emphasized the importance of keen observation, urging them to be perceptive and astute in their approach to leadership. Furthermore, she encouraged these young leaders to seize every leadership opportunity that crosses their path, for it is through these experiences that true growth and transformation occur.

In her address, the esteemed Pro-Vice Chairperson, emphasized the profound importance of remaining deeply connected to our 'roots' and preserving our rich cultural heritage while simultaneously fostering a modern outlook towards life. Her vision for the school shone brightly through her words, reflecting a commitment to nurturing not only academically accomplished students but also individuals deeply rooted in their cultural identity. This dual focus on tradition and progress signifies a holistic approach to education, underlining the institution's commitment to producing well-rounded, culturally aware, and forward-thinking citizens. She extended warm congratulations to the newly elected student cabinet and urged them to uphold the cherished school motto, 'Service Before Self,' with unwavering commitment to honesty, diligence, and responsibility.

The esteemed management DPS Jammu, including the Hon’ble President-RCT, Sh. M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji, extended their heartfelt best wishes to the newly elected Student Cabinet, their parents, and blessed the children on their path to fulfilling their duties with excellence.


The pinnacle of the event was the solemn investiture of the student council members of DPS Jammu. A total of 80 young leaders, who were selected after rigorous interviewing and selection, were vested with the badges of responsibility by the distinguished guests. Principal-DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, administered the oath to the newly inducted Student Cabinet, expressing hope that the newly elected student cabinet with their boundless potential and spark will carry out their duties with utmost sincerity and help the school scale new heights of excellence.The spectacle of these young leaders on stage, embracing their mantle of responsibility and taking the oath of allegiance to their school flag, was truly graceful and enthralling.

The students through their captivating classical dance performance brought to life the ancient saga of "Samudra Manthan," the cosmic churn, where gods and demons united in a monumental effort to extract the elixir of immortality from the depths of the ocean.

Adding an extra layer of artistic splendour to the event, Suhani from Class XII graced the stage with a mesmerizing bandish in Raag Malkouns, accompanied by the tabla rhythms of Gunnat Singh of Class VI, on harmonium by Manini Sharma of Class X, and on Taanpura by Pranavi Khajuria (Class XI). This artistic interlude not only enriched the event but also resonated with the essence of our cultural heritage.

The Head Boy, Akash Sharma, and the Head Girl, Sheen Wanchoo, in their address reaffirmed the diligence and dedication with which the new student council would function. They motivated the newly elected members to take up their tasks with unwavering zeal and enthusiasm.

The Guests of Honour and distinguished alumni - Mr. Nirbhay Sudan, Dr. Aneesh Uppal, and Ms. Jiya Gupta, reminisced their glorious days spent in the school and instilled in the students the understanding that their school years are a treasure trove of opportunities, a time to learn, grow, and create memories that would last a lifetime.They exhorted the students to make the best use of their time in school by taking up responsibilities and actively participating in a diverse range of activities that contribute to the development of an all-round personality. They collectively underlined that these varied experiences help students cultivate vital life skills to build enduring bonds with their peers, and nurturing a sense of camaraderie that would serve them well in their future journeys.

The event came to a close with the impressive March Past led by the newly elected Head boy and the Head girl, to the rhythm of the DPS Song sung by the school choir which culminated with the National Anthem and group photographs. The investiture ceremony was a moment of immense pride for the parents of the newly elected cabinet members as they witnessed their children being entrusted with significant responsibilities, embarking on a new journey as leaders.

The Vote of thanks was delivered by the Headmistress, DPS Jammu- Ms Meenu Gupta.
