Delhi Public School Jammu Commemorates Maharaja Hari Singh Ji's Birth Anniversary with a Green Initiative

Delhi Public School Jammu paid a heartfelt tribute today on the occasion of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji's birth anniversary by organizing a special plantation drive. This event was orchestrated by the School Environment Club and members of the Student Council, with the intent to honour the memory of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji and champion environmental stewardship through the planting of saplings and the creation of a vertical garden on the school premises, utilizing recycled plastic bottles as innovative planters.

The program commenced with a solemn assembly, characterized by a prayer beautifully delivered by Aditi Lohia, a senior student from class XII. Jasmeen Kour, also from class XII, shared an insightful thought of the day, followed by an emotionally stirring poem recited by Divija Mahajan from class X and Divita Gupta from class XII. Bhindeep Kour, a student from class X, took the lead in reciting the environmental pledge, while Parikash and Arshia from class XI eloquently articulated the remarkable contributions of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji to his state and its people.

Later, the students and staff united to create a vertical garden and pledged to incorporate sustainable practices into their daily lives, with the shared goal of reducing their carbon footprint and safeguarding natural resources. The event saw the successful planting of 100 saplings, reflecting the school community's deep-seated commitment to fostering environmental sustainability.

The esteemed management of DPS Jammu, including the honourable President-RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, honourable PVC-Dr. Kuwarani Ritu Singh Ji, and honourable Director-Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the students and staff for their exceptional 'green' tribute to the great Maharaja Hari Singh Ji during his birth anniversary celebration, a profound mark of respect for his illustrious reign. They commended the innovative use of recycled plastic bottles as planters, which reflect school's commitment to sustainability. They also extended their best wishes to all staff and students for their future endeavours.

Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal of DPS Jammu, lauded the enthusiasm and collective commitment demonstrated by the students and staff of DPS Jammu in making a positive impact on the environment. She encouraged the students to embrace the mantle of environmental stewardship. Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress, emphasized that the saplings planted during the event symbolized the school's unwavering commitment to environmental protection.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ekaumjit Singh and Tehzeeb Kour, Environmental Club Secretaries. The event ended with the National Anthem.
