DPS JAMMU HOLDS WORKSHOP ON TRAFFIC AWARENESS AND ROAD SAFETY

As an effort to continue its dedication to holistic education, and to reinforce the school's commitment to equipping students not only with academic knowledge but also with life skills crucial for their overall development, Delhi Public School, Jammu organised a workshop on Traffic rules and safety guidelines on 21st November, 2023, for the students of Class IX-XII. The resource person for the workshop was the District Traffic Inspector Residency, Mr. Sanjeev Singh, a seasoned professional from the J&K Traffic Police, who delivered a highly informative talk on Traffic Awareness.
The session commenced with a welcome address by the Headmaster, Mr. Ravi Kumar Kotroo, wherein, he highlighted the importance of Road Safety and Traffic Awareness and the need for following traffic rules. This was followed by a potted plant presentation to Mr. Sanjeev Singh, District Traffic Inspector, Residency (J&K) by Mr. Ravi Kumar Kotroo, Headmaster and Mr. Umesh Kumar Sharma, Deputy Headmaster.
The resource person, District Traffic Inspector Residency, Mr. Sanjeev Singh, not only delved into essential traffic regulations but also shed light on the safety guidelines and the hazards of distracted driving. The session covered the fundamental rules of the road and also emphasized safety measures that the citizens should integrate into their daily commuting habits. It also placed a strong emphasis on the dangers associated with underage driving and driving with the helmets and license. Mr. Singh highlighted the legal and safety implications of underage individuals operating vehicles, stressing the need for responsible decision-making. He also highlighted the importance of seatbelts and helmet usage.
It was a highly interactive session which provided a platform to the students for discussions and interaction on traffic rules and safety, acquainting them with the need for constant attention to their surroundings and fostering a mindset of responsibility on the road.
The event was graced by the presence of Principal-DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Headmaster, Mr. Ravi Kumar Kotroo and Deputy Headmaster, Mr. Umesh Kumar Sharma and other Members of School Management.
Principal, Ms. Ruchi Chabra applauded Inspector Sanjeev Singh's comprehensive presentation and expressed her gratitude for such an informative and interactive session. She exhorted the students to apply the knowledge gained to make informed and responsible decisions while navigating roads.
The whole session was compered by Prasann Sharma and Mayra of Class XI-H and concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Umesh Kumar Sharma, Deputy Headmaster.
