Delhi Public School Jammu Organises Inter-House Art Competition: Journey of Colours

Delhi Public School Jammu hosted an Inter-House Art Competition on 21 May 2024. A total of 35 students from the school's five houses—Yamuna, Ganga, Chenab, Jhelum, and Tawi—participated, representing the Primary, Middle, and Senior Wings. The event was coordinated by Tawi House.
The competition featured diverse themes for different age groups. Students from Classes III to V explored "Harmony in Diversity: Celebrating Unity through Art," while those from Classes VI to VIII delved into "Journey through the Pages: Exploring the Magic of Books." Senior students from Classes IX to XII presented their interpretations of "Literary Legends Unite: Shakespeare and Tagore in a Symbolic Embrace."
The vibrant event celebrated the artistic talents of its students. Gurleen Kour (IX-C) and Aleena (X-K) compered the event, which commenced with a soulful prayer by the school choir, setting an inspirational tone for the day. The esteemed judges included Ms. Reecha Gupta, a decorated fine arts gold medallist; Mr. Akram Khan, an award-winning actor and art director; and Mr. Manoj Chopra, an internationally acclaimed artist, all enhancing the event's artistic prestige.
Excitement filled the atmosphere as participants showcased their artistic skills, unveiling their masterpieces and embarking on a journey into the world of creativity. From the Primary Wing, Zaem Ashraf, Manasvi Mahajan, and Pranaya Pargal of Jhelum House emerged as winners. In the Middle Wing, Ayesha Azad from Yamuna House took first place, while in the Senior Wing, Sachika Gupta claimed the top spot. Yamuna House was awarded the prestigious overall rolling trophy in recognition of their outstanding collective talent and effort.
Ms. Reecha Gupta praised the school for integrating art into education and encouraged students to continue pursuing their artistic passions. The event concluded with an instrumental rendition of the National Anthem and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
Earlier, the Principal, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, welcomed the judges with traditional shawls. She encouraged students to view the event not just as a competition but as an opportunity to explore their creativity and present their artistic vision of the world. Headmistress Ms. Meenu Gupta emphasized the importance of art integration in learning, highlighting that creative activities build resilience, adaptability, and collaboration skills.
The event ended with the prize distribution and the National Anthem. Ms. Archana Khajuria, Vice House Master of Tawi House, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
The esteemed management of DPS Jammu, including Hon’ble President-RCT Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Distinguished PVC Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji, and Hon’ble Director Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji, congratulated the Principal and staff for the successful conduct of the event and extended their best wishes to students and staff for their future endeavors.
