"Champions de Français" Inter-House French Quiz Competition at Delhi Public School, Jammu

Delhi Public School Jammu successfully hosted the Champions de Français, an exciting Inter-House French Quiz Competition on 23rd December 2024. This much-anticipated event brought together the intellectual vigor of the students, promoting the French language and culture in an engaging and competitive manner.
The quiz competition featured 5 houses—Chenab, Ganga, Tawi, Jhelum, and Yamuna—each representing their respective house with enthusiasm and energy. The quiz was designed to challenge the students' knowledge of the French language, culture, and history.
Mr. Lokesh Kumar, Principal of SGGDJ Higher Secondary School, Sundarbani, Jammu, was invited as the judge for the competition. Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal of DPS Jammu, Ms. Meenu Gupta, Vice Principal of DPS Jammu, along with the Academic Coordinator, Coordinator, and HOD of the 3rd Language department were also present to encourage and support the students.
The competition commenced with a lively cultural performance by the students of Classes 7 and 8. The Class 8 students enthralled the audience with a rendition of "Love Story" by Indila, setting a perfect tone for the quiz. This was followed by a mesmerizing performance by the Class 7 students, who performed "Dernière Danse", also by Indila. The performances beautifully highlighted the essence of French music, engaging the audience in the spirit of the language.
The quiz consisted of four challenging rounds, each testing the participants' knowledge in different aspects of the French language and culture.
1. Round 1: In this round, each house was asked 5 multiple-choice questions with a 10-second time limit per question. The students had to quickly choose the correct answer, making this round both fast-paced and exciting.
2. Round 2: The second round was similar, but without multiple-choice options. Each house was given 5 questions, with only 10 seconds to answer each. This round tested the students’ ability to think on their feet and recall information rapidly.
3. Round 3 (Audio/Video Round): Round 3 was an innovative twist where students were shown 4 animated videos prepared by Mr. Neeraj Manhas. The students were asked questions based on these videos, involving both auditory and visual recall. This round was well-received by the students, combining entertainment with education.
4. Round 4 (Rapid Fire): In the final round, the houses participated in a rapid-fire format where each team had 15 seconds to answer as many questions as possible. This round tested the speed and accuracy of the participants under pressure.
After the four rounds, a tie-breaker was held between the top three houses, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition. The participants displayed remarkable quick thinking and teamwork, making it an intense and thrilling conclusion.After a closely contested final, House Tawi emerged victorious, claiming the title of Champions de Français. Their consistent performance throughout the rounds, combined with their remarkable quick thinking in the tie-breaker, earned them the well-deserved win.
In their speeches, Mr. Lokesh Kumar, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, and Ms. Meenu Gupta commended the students for their exceptional performance and enthusiasm. They also praised Mr. Neeraj Manhas for his outstanding efforts in organizing the event and promoting the French language and culture among the students. His hard work and creativity in preparing the animated videos for the audio/video round were especially lauded. The event successfully highlighted the importance of learning foreign languages and appreciating diverse cultures.
The Champions de Français competition proved to be a memorable occasion, fostering a spirit of competition while simultaneously encouraging a love for the French language and culture among the students of DPS Jammu.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Neeraj Manhas, who expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests, the participants, and all those who contributed to making the event a success. His acknowledgment of the support from the school administration, teachers, and students was well-received.
The day ended with the national anthem, a perfect conclusion to an event that celebrated both knowledge and unity.
