DPS JAMMU CELEBRATES 76TH REPUBLIC DAY WITH GREAT FERVOUR AND ENTHUSIASM

Delhi Public School Jammu celebrated the 76th Republic Day with patriotic fervor and solemn dignity.

Under the visionary leadership of PVC Kunwrani Dr. Ritu Singh, staff and students from DPS Jammu, Nagbani, and Katra visited the Border Out Post, Octroi at Suchet Garh, to witness a parade ceremony by the Border Security Forces (BSF). The event featured synchronized drills and national pride displays, offering an opportunity to interact with BSF personnel and learn about their vital role in safeguarding the borders. As a token of gratitude, Dr. Ritu Singh presented the national flag to the BSF and dedicated tricolor plants, crafted by the schools, along with a canvas painting symbolizing India’s progress toward a golden future.

A special assembly emphasizing unity and patriotism was conducted. The program commenced with a heartfelt prayer by Ambar Raina of Class VIII, setting a serene and respectful tone. This was followed by an inspiring thought shared by Maryam Dev and the pledge, led by Ashwika Sharma of Class IX.

The celebration continued with a melodious group song by the school choir prepared under the guidance of Mr Joy Paul and Ms Mukti that celebrated the nation's diversity and spirit, filling the audience with a sense of joy and unity.

After that Mansha of Class XI rendered an inspiring speech in English, while Gurbani of Class XI rendered a powerful speech in Hindi. Both the speakers emphasised the importance of Republic Day and the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Their words resonated with pride and reminded everyone of their responsibilities as citizens of a free and democratic nation.

The audience was treated to a captivating performance by the School Orchestra, which presented a blend of Indian folk and Western fusion music. Ramit Kak of Class VIII-D mesmerized everyone with his masterful piano renditions of Mozart’s “Rondo Alla Turca” (Turkish March) and Beethoven’s “Für Elise,” earning him resounding applause and admiration.

A semi -classical dance performance was given by Pankhuri Malhotra of Class VI D, a dance prodigy from DPS Jammu, who recently won 1st prize in the Semi-Classical Dance Competition held in Jalandhar, Punjab, on January 19, 2025. Competing against 150 participants nationwide, she was among 17 selected for the Show Stopper round and clinched the top spot, earning the prestigious Show Stopper trophy, bringing laurels to her school and parents.

A beautifully performed dance drama prepared under the guidance of Dance teachers - Ms Shalini Pradhan, Ms. Sheetal Chalotra and Ms. Ritu Dogra followed, depicting the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle and the significance of Republic Day in modern times. The students' powerful performance left the audience deeply moved. The themes of dance drama were Freedom struggle, Constitutional and democratic values, Cultural diversity of India, Progress and modern India and Patriotism and national integration. Students performed traditional dances including Dogri, Bhangra, Garba, as well as the traditional dances of Assam and Kerala.

Tri colour balloons were released to signify freedom, hope, and unity. The moment was filled with joy as students and faculty watched them ascend into far sky, celebrating the spirit of the occasion.

The event was very well compered by Manini Sharma and Tanisha Sharma of Class XI.

To celebrate the spirit of the Indian Constitution and honor the essence of Republic Day, the Middle Wing students enthusiastically participated in a quiz activity titled ‘Constitution Quest’. The event aimed to enhance students' knowledge of the Indian Constitution while fostering a sense of pride and responsibility as citizens.

The Pre-Primary wing of school also celebrated Republic Day by organizing a special assembly. The program commenced with a serene morning prayer led by Fatima, followed by a melodious prayer song presented by the DPS choir. The thought for the day was delivered by Atharv Gupta of Class I-A, inspiring everyone with its profound message.

A beautiful poem recitation was presented by Dhvani Gupta of Class I-C and Akshaj Gupta of Class I-D.Aadvik Sharma of Class I-C delivered an engaging speech on Republic Day, highlighting the significance of the occasion.

The choir of Pre-Primary wing presented a wonderful patriotic song, filling the atmosphere with national pride. A musical tribute to freedom fighters by the children of Class I was a touching moment, followed by a vibrant patriotic dance performance that captivated the audience. The assembly in Pre-Primary wing was compered by Zenia of Class-I-A. Ms Payal Tandon delivered the vote of thanks.

Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra, extended warm wishes on Republic Day, highlighting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s struggle, visionary leadership, and dedication to crafting a Constitution that ensures dignity and equality for all. She urged students to uphold constitutional values and work towards an inclusive, progressive nation. The event also included prize distribution to achievers in various fields, inspiring all to contribute meaningfully to India’s future.

Vice Principal DPS Jammu, Ms Meenu Gupta while addressing the gathering emphasized that Republic Day is not just a celebration but a reminder of our duty towards the nation. She added that together, we can create a brighter and more inclusive future for our country.

Deputy Headmaster and Chief Coordinator DPS Jammu, Mr Umesh Sharma also addressed the gathering, and expressed his pride in the students for their enthusiastic participation in the Republic Day celebrations. He encouraged them to embrace the spirit of patriotism and strive to contribute positively to the nation's progress.

The event concluded with a warm vote of thanks by House Master, Mr Rakesh Gupta, expressing gratitude to the management, teachers, students, and staff who contributed to the success of the program.

The esteemed management, DPS Jammu under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble President-RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Distinguished PVC-Kuwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director-Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji extended their best wishes to the staff and students on the occasion of Republic Day.
