DPS Jammu Celebrated Mother’s Day

Delhi Public School, Jammu organized a series of events to celebrate Mother’s Day here today. A special assembly was held wherein students shared inspiring thoughts and speeches praising the valuable love of a Mother. The soulful rendition of the song “ Teri Aradhana Karun”, sung by the school choir held the audience spell bound. The Additional Director/Principal Dr.(Mrs) D. Joseph in her warm address bestowed her motherly blessings on the students and staff. Also present on this occasion was Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Headmistress, DPS Jammu & senior Coordinators.
Further, a Story Writing activity for classes IX- XII was also organized on this occasion, wherein students enthusiastically gave vent to their feelings and creative expressions. Some of the themes chosen for this activity were ‘Respect your Elders’, ‘You Can Change the World’, ‘Women Empowerment’ & ‘Save the Girl Child’.
Students of ‘ Prayas –a try’, a social group of the school accompanied by Ms. Manpreet, Mr. Jacob Mattoo & Mr. Daniel undertook a visit to the Home for Old & Infirm, Amphala and celebrated Mothers Day with the old and abandoned mothers over there. They presented cultural items for them and also distributed eatables and some essential items of daily use. The parents of the students also joined hands with their children in this effort and actively contributed in the program. The main purpose of this visit was to build an empathy in the students for the deserted senior citizens and also to make the left out mothers feel good and special on this occasion.
Additional Director/Principal Dr.(Mrs) D. Joseph appreciated the efforts of the students, their parents and teachers. She encouraged them to continue with such noble efforts in future also.
