A panel discussion on climate change held in DPS, Jammu

Delhi Public School, Jammu led a panel discussion on the global issue of climatic change in the context of the Prime Minister, Sh. Narender Modi’s push for ‘Climate Justice’ at the crucial twelve day UN Summit in Paris. It was a brainstorming session in which three teams from classes VII-IX argued the moot: climatic change from the perspective of Science and Geography.
The programme was convened by the Principal, Delhi Public School Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra. The moderators of the panel discussion were Ms. Mrignani Pathania, Mr. Umesh Sharma, Mr. Ravi Kotroo, Ms. Rama Gupta, Mr. Nikhil Sardhalia and Mr. Jaswinder Singh. The panel discussion, based on an already articulated need to teach climate change education, provided a forum for exploration of complex questions around climate change. There was enlightening discussion and a thought provoking question hour session in which the audience participated with a great zeal and enthusiasm and put forward their ideas pertaining to use of solar energy, afforestation, and recycling of plastic for making crude oil/ petrol, etc.
The discussion winded up with onspot jingles and slogan writing by participants and audience on climate change which were quite thought provoking and inspiring.
The Principal motivated the students take pledge to make individual contributions to conserve environment and reduce pollution.
