DPS Jammu’s Student Innovators Shine at IIT Jammu with ‘Carbifier’
Tuesday, February 18, 2025
In a remarkable display of scientific ingenuity, students of Delhi Public School Jammu showcased their innovation, ‘Carbifier’, at the prestigious IIT Jammu Tech Fair - Pragyaan: An Open Day. The project received immense appreciation from experts, academia, and global innovation forums for its potential to revolutionize sustainable energy solutions. Designed and developed by young minds of DPS Jammu, ‘Carbifier’ is an advanced carbon conversion device that transforms harmful carbon emissions into useful byproducts, significantly contributing to environmental conservation by reducing carbon footprint and promoting renewable energy solutions. The ingenuity of the project earned accolades from experts and faculty at IIT Jammu along with other visitors from other prestigious educational institutions of Jammu.
The project was presented by five bright students—Manaswin Mahajan, Danish Talwar, Manya Targotra, Rudraksh Bargotra, and Taransh Mahajan—who eloquently explained the scientific principles and real-world applications of their innovation. The event was graced by Hon’ble Chief Guest, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Government of India, who lauded the students for their visionary approach and their commitment to addressing global environmental challenges.
The ‘Carbifier’ project specifically tackles carbon dioxide (CO₂) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from industrial factories, major contributors to air pollution and climate change. The model converts CO₂ into CO, which is then transformed into methane, a cleaner fuel for energy production and transportation. Utilizing solar energy to power the conversion process, the project integrates AI-driven monitoring technology to optimize efficiency and impact, with an estimated reduction in air pollution by 24%, making a significant contribution to carbon capture and power-to-gas technologies.
A 40-member student delegation from DPS Jammu, accompanied by their teachers attended the fair to explore cutting-edge technological advancements and interact with industry leaders.
The two-day exhibition, held on February 16-17, 2025, saw active participation from DPS Jammu. On February 16, the project was showcased by the five students alongside Mr. Prashant and Ms. Bhanu Dubey, while on February 17, an additional 35 students from Classes IX and XI, accompanied by three faculty members Ms. Dheeraj Dewan Thakur, Ms. Yogita Devi & Ms. Gurvinder Kour, visited the exhibition to explore technological innovations and attend interactive sessions. The IIT Jammu Tech Fair, Pragyaan – An Open Day, served as a collaborative platform aimed at promoting the inclusion of modern technology in schools, inspiring students through hands-on activities and live demonstrations, and encouraging scientific curiosity and innovation in schools.
DPS Jammu takes immense pride in its young innovators and extends its gratitude to IIT Jammu for providing this prestigious platform, fostering scientific temperament and preparing future-ready leaders.
The Management ,DPS Jammu, including Hon’ble President Sh M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Distinguished PVC Kunwrani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji, Director Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji, Principal Ruchi Chabra and staff congratulated the students and faculty members for their outstanding achievement.
