DPS Jammu Organizes Inter-House Painting Competition Ahead of World Environment Day

In the spirit of World Environment Day, observed globally on 5th June, Delhi Public School, Jammu organized an Inter-House Painting Competition for Classes VI to VIII on the theme “Our Planet, Our Future”. Titled “Rango ka Safar – Journey of Colours”, the event aimed to raise environmental awareness and promote creative expression among students.

The competition was judged by Mr. Radhey Shyam Dayal, a renowned artist from J&K and faculty member at Sainik School, Nagrota. Students from all five houses presented impactful artworks, reflecting their concern for the planet and vision for a sustainable future.

Mr. Dayal commended the students for their imagination and technique, emphasizing the role of art in shaping responsible global citizens.

Principal Ms. Ruchi Chabra expressed gratitude to the guest and congratulated the participants, reaffirming the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity and environmental responsibility. Vice Principal Ms. Meenu Gupta highlighted the event’s alignment with key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
• Goal 13 – Climate Action
• Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
• Goal 4 – Quality Education

Results:
• 1st Position: Hargun Kour (Tawi House)
• 2nd Position: Aaradhya Shan (Yamuna House)
• 3rd Position: Aadhya (Ganga House)
• Consolation Prizes: Mehak (Ganga House), Areeba (Tawi House)

House-wise Tally:
• Overall Winner: Tawi House
• 1st Runner-up: Yamuna House
• 2nd Runner-up: Chenab House

The event was held under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble President RCT Sh. M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chairperson Kunwarani Ritu Singh Ji, and Hon’ble Director Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji, whose constant support continues to guide the school’s mission of holistic and values-based education.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem, leaving students inspired to contribute actively toward a greener, more sustainable world.
