DPS JAMMU PRE-PRIMARY WING ORGANIZES HANDWASH AWARENESS ACTIVITY

To make learning about cleanliness fun and meaningful, the Pre-Primary Wing of Delhi Public School Jammu organized a Handwash Awareness Activity for the students of Classes I and II. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and their SwaaHa IEC Team, led by Ms. Divya Sharma and Ms. Geetika.
The session aimed to teach young learners the correct technique of handwashing and the importance of maintaining hygiene. Through interactive demonstrations, songs, and rhymes, children enthusiastically learned how to wash hands properly before meals and after play, while also understanding simple ways to save water and keep their surroundings clean.
Students actively participated in practising the seven steps of handwashing, playing hygiene games, and creating colourful posters titled ‘Clean Hands, Healthy Me!’. They also enjoyed listening to short stories on how germs spread and how good hygiene keeps everyone safe.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, students of DPS Jammu became young ambassadors of cleanliness and environmental care. Mahira Tandon (I-F), the Brand Ambassador of the campaign, inspired everyone to use their own soap, napkin, and towel to prevent the spread of germs. Mayra Yadav (II-F) advocated reducing plastic waste by avoiding plastic water bottles, Afiya Farooq Malik (II-A) suggested using handwash or paper soap instead of bar soap in public places, while Sarmad Ahmed Beg (I-H) highlighted the importance of correct handwashing and minimizing plastic use.
At the end of the session, students took a cheerful ‘Swachhata Pledge’—promising to stay clean, stay healthy, and remind others to do the same. Each child proudly received a bright handwashing badge as a token of encouragement.
Ms. Meenu Gupta, Vice Principal, presented a token of appreciation to the JMC Team for their valuable contribution.
The School Management of Delhi Public School Jammu, under the visionary guidance of Hon’ble President-RCT Sh. M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Distinguished Pro-Vice Chairperson Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh Ji, and Hon’ble Director Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji along with Ms Ruchi Chabra, Principal, DPS Jammu, lauded the initiative of the Pre-Primary Wing for organizing such an inspiring and impactful activity that instilled values of hygiene, environmental responsibility, and good habits in children from an early age.
