DPS Jammu Celebrates Diwali with Joy, Creativity, and Cultural Splendour

Delhi Public School Jammu celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm and festive charm across all wings of the school. The joyous celebration began with a special assembly by the Pre-Primary Wing, featuring a soulful prayer by Mitaksh (II-J), an inspiring thought by Maya (II-G), and graceful performances by the tiny tots. The highlights included a divine Ganesh–Lakshmi Vandana, a thoughtful speech on the essence of Diwali by Afiya (II-A), a vibrant group dance, and a melodious song that filled the campus with festive warmth.
Throughout the week, creative Diwali-themed activities infused classrooms with colour and cheer. From decorative paper diyas and potato-printed lamps by Nursery and Prep students to glittering card-making by Classes I and II, the young learners expressed joy through art. Classes III and IV showcased their skill in Diya Decoration, while Class V students crafted ornate torans symbolising prosperity and good fortune. Class parties added laughter, togetherness, and celebration to the day.
For senior students, an Inter-House Rangoli Competition – “Rangoli Fiesta: Colours of Diwali 2025” turned the school courtyard into a mosaic of imagination. Participants from all five houses—Chenab, Ganga, Jhelum, Tawi, and Yamuna—depicted themes like Victory of Good over Evil and Eco-Friendly Diwali through exquisite designs. Yamuna House emerged as the Winner, followed by Chenab and Jhelum Houses as First and Second Runners-Up, respectively. The judges lauded the creativity, precision, and teamwork displayed by the young artists.
Principal Ms. Ruchi Chabra extended heartfelt Diwali greetings, urging students to celebrate responsibly and share the light of kindness. Vice Principal Ms. Meenu Gupta encouraged them to be messengers of peace and positivity, while Academic Coordinator Ms. Richa Gupta proposed the Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem that filled every heart with pride.
