DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL CELEBRATED THE EARTH DAY

Delhi Public School, Jammu, organized plethora of activities on Earth Day to celebrate the spirit of the day to demonstrate the importance of Mother Earth. The spate of the events started a day earlier with the Guest lecture for the students by Ms Anuradha, Scientist, Incharge-SWM from SPBJ. The focus of the session was on garbage management at source, yard waste composting and vermi-composting. On 22nd April, a special assembly was organized by the Ganga House which included inspirational musical numbers, Nukkad Natak and talks with a message on conserving nature and protecting our environment.
The Principal, Ms Ruchi Chabra, urged students to utilize the resources wisely and made the students and the staff take the Earth Day pledge promising to recycle, conserve energy, save water and clean our mother earth every day. The Head Mistress, Ms Meenu Gupta, enthused all with the message to return love and care the nature has given to us. The Coordinators and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
Prep & primary wing held the plantation drive wherein the toddlers planted the saplings in the school vicinity which was followed by colouring and craft activities, reinforcing the significance of the Mother Earth. An Inter House Open Forum was organized for the seniors with the theme “Humans – Main cause for the changing environment”. It comprised of four students of each of the five houses, who participated in three different rounds viz: Theme Introduction Round, Question Answer Round and Open Discussion. The event was judged by the Mr. Umesh, Mr Ravi, Ms Rekha and Ms Rama. All participants overwhelmed with enthusiasm and excitement shared their views and ideas with the judges and audience. The Yamuna house won the event and Chenab house was the runner up.
The President RCT, M.K Ajatshatru Singh, PVC Kunwrani Ritu Singh and Director Mr. S S Sodhi had also forwarded their best wishes on the occasion to students and staff of Delhi Public School.
