DPS JAMMU ORGANISES INTER HOUSE ENGLISH DEBATE

In its endeavor to enhance the speaking and debating skills of students, Delhi Public School, Jammu organized Inter House English Debate Competition for Classes IX to XII on the topic “Patriotism is much misinterpreted & misused emotion today”, in the school premises. The objective of the event was to sharpen critical thinking and analytical & communicative skills of the students. Rajarshi Rai – XI A of Yamuna House compered the event expressively. Participants from all five houses: Ganga, Tawi, Yamuna, Jhelum and Chenab participated enthusiastically and forwarded their opinions for and against the motion. The event was judged by Mr. Ravi Kotru-Deputy Head Master, DPS, Jammu and Mrs. Preeti Abrol-Coordinator, Pre-Primary Section.
The winner of the event was Mahavir Singh-XI B of Yamuna House, Second position was won by Sidhant Pandita XI B of Yamuna House, while Niharika – XI F, Jhelum House, received the trophy for the third position. The consolation Prize was won by Aarya Bagotra-XI J, Ganga House. Yamuna House won the overall trophy for the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Ms Ruchi Chabra said that the debate gave the opportunity for honest appraisal of our love for the nation and that it is time we understood implicit and explicit meaning of the term Patriotism. She gave away trophies and certificates of merit to all the winners. Mr. Umesh Sharma, Chief Coordinator School & Ms Madhu Abrol, Activity Coordinator, DPS, Jammu were also present on the occasion. The vote of thanks was presented by Ms Usha Dhar, House Warden, Yamuna House.
