DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS WITH GRANDEUR; SCHOOL MAGAZINE ANKUR RELEASED

Delhi Public School, Jammu celebrated Christmas with great zeal, reverence and festive joy through a grand Morning Assembly that beautifully reflected the spirit of love, peace, gratitude and togetherness. The celebration unfolded as a vibrant confluence of music, dance, drama, creativity and achievement, bringing together students, teachers and school leadership in a joyful and harmonious atmosphere.
The programme was gracefully anchored by Sparsh Bakshi (Class XI) and Somanshi Singh (Class IX), who warmly welcomed the Principal, Vice Principal, Headmaster, Deputy Headmaster, coordinators, teachers and students.
The celebration commenced on a melodious note with soulful Christmas carols performed by Reagon Sir along with a group of 20 talented student guitarists, setting the perfect festive mood. This was followed by an enchanting classical group carol presentation by the Pre-Primary students under the mentorship of Jacob Sir, Mukti Ma’am and Daniel Sir, creating an atmosphere of serenity and devotion.
A meaningful speech highlighting the true significance of Christmas was delivered by Barina (Class XI), emphasising values of love, humility, gratitude and compassion. The highlight of the programme was a captivating Nativity Play, presented under the guidance of Ms. Aksa Wilson, Ms. Roseline and Ms. Nanuta. Accompanied by deeply stirring carols sung by a choir of nearly 250 students, the performance vividly portrayed the birth of Jesus Christ and left the audience deeply moved.
Adding colour and charm to the celebration were delightful dance performances by the Pre-Primary students under Anju Ma’am and an energetic presentation by Class V students under the guidance of Sheetal Ma’am, reflecting innocence, joy and festive enthusiasm. The audience was further enthralled by a spectacular performance featuring students on roller skates, enthusiastic young dancers, and a cheerful Santa Claus dancing to Jingle Bells sung in crescendo by nearly 200 carolers, followed by the distribution of sweets — earning thunderous applause and spreading joy, gaiety and love all around.
A major highlight of the celebration was the formal release of the school magazine Ankur. The student editors — Shivaagaman Kohli (XI-F), Parina Kandhari (XI-B) and Dhanvika Kotwal (XI-H) — shared insightful reflections on the creative journey of the magazine, underscoring student expression, literary talent and innovation. The release of Ankur, symbolising budding talent and young ideas, marked a proud milestone in the school’s academic and creative journey. It was also announced that the e-book edition of the magazine would be released soon.
The Felicitation Ceremony, eloquently conducted by Adaa Mahajan (XII-H) and Vaidik Taggar (XII-H), honoured nearly 110 students for their outstanding achievements at the national, international, state and regional levels across academics, sports, culture, art and debate.
In addition to the main assembly, a range of creative activities marked the festive celebrations across wings. Pre-Primary students participated in an online art and craft activity, showcasing colourful Christmas trees, Santas and festive décor. Primary Wing students engaged in Christmas card-making (Classes II & III) and poster-making activities (Classes IV & V). The English Department (Middle Wing) organised a Creative Writing Activity titled “The True Spirit of Christmas” for Classes VI to VIII, encouraging students to reflect on kindness, sharing and community spirit.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Ms. Ruchi Chabra urged everyone to embody the true spirit of Christmas by practising humility, compassion and generosity, and by spreading happiness and goodwill. Vice Principal Ms. Meenu Gupta appreciated the collective efforts of students and staff in making the celebration a grand success. Deputy Headmaster and Chief Coordinator Mr. Umesh Sharma also extended warm festive greetings.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji; Hon’ble PVC, Kunwarani Ritu Singh Ji; and Hon’ble Director, DPS Jammu extended their heartfelt Christmas greetings and best wishes to the students and staff on the joyous occasion.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Ranjana Verma, followed by the National Anthem and a group photograph.
