PRIMARY WING, DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU ORGANIZES ANNUAL FUNCTION

DPS Jammu organized a colourful cultural function ‘Indradhanush-2017’, presented by the students of class-I, dedicated to their mothers on the occasion of International Women’s Day, falling on 8th March every year. All mothers of class-I students were invited on the occasion that was graced by Smt. Sushma Chauhan, IAS & Director Tourism, J&K Government as the Chief Guest . The program began with the auspicious lightning of the lamp by the Chief Guest along with the Principal and other dignitaries, followed by the soulful Ganesh Vandana. Thereafter, much like ‘Indradhanush’, colourful array of items followed one after the other. The participants mesmerized the audience with vocal presentation on Raag Bilawal, Fusion of Indian Folk Dances, International Dance Fusion, Musical Poem-Seasons, Western song-Do-Re-Mi and to crown it all, a gala fashion show, displaying Indian, Western & Sporty trends. The program was confidentally co-compered in pairs by Sufyaan & Shreiny, Kashvi& Paavni, Shivom & Taransh, Chahat & Rehaan, Krishanika & Skyla and Shaunish of class –I, along with their teachers- Ms. Kamini Swahney and Ms. Shabana.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Smt. Sushma Chauhan, appreciated all performances of the day and lauded the efforts of the Management, VIZ: Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh, Hon’ble President RCT Jammu, Kunwrani Ritu Singh, Hon’ble Pro- Vice Chairperson, DPS Jammu and Sh. S.S Sodhi, Hon’ble Director, DPS Jammu for their pragmatic approach and vision for the school. She also congratulated the Principal, Staff & Students of DPS Jammu for putting up an excellent show. Later, she also distributed prizes to students of class-I for All Round Activities and also 100% attendance.

Earlier, the Principal DPS Jammu Ms. Ruchi Chabra welcomed the Chief Guest & the parents and highlighted the role of women, especially, mothers in the upbringing of their children. She said that since children observe and imitate the actions of the adults around them, it is very important for parents and other members in the family to carefully monitor their own behaviour and actions, especially around their children. She also read out a poem ‘Little Eyes See a Lot’, addressed to the mothers. Headmistress, Ms. Meenu Gupta, in her address acknowledging the role of the mothers, emphasized that strong women can contribute to building of the future of the nation.

The vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Preeti Abrol, Coordinator Pre-Pry Wing. Also present on the occasion were the members of the school administration, Dy. Headmaster and Coordinators - Mr. C.L Malhotra, Mr. S.S Jamwal, Mr. Karandeep, Mr. R.C Gupta, Mr. Ravi Katroo, Mr. Umesh, and other coordinators of the school.

The programme ended with the National Anthem.

Hon’ble President RCT, M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S S Sodhi Ji conveyed their best wishes to all the students, their parents, especially the mothers, on this occasion.
