DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL JAMMU CELEBRATES MOTHER’S DAY WEEK

Mother’s Day is a great opportunity to say thanks for all wonderful things our Mothers do for us. To show our gratitude to the Mothers, Delhi Public School, Jammu organised plethora of activities throughout the week.
A card making activity was organised for the classes II, III & VI on the theme “Thank You Mom” and “My Mother is my Strength”. Children made beautiful cards giving vent to their feelings of love and gratitude for their Mothers.
For the students of classes IV & V a Drawing Competition was held on the theme “My Mother is my World”. It was a treat to eyes to see little hands working on canvas so efficiently and depicting through drawing their emotions for their Mothers. Each drawing was different and unique in its own way.
An Essay writing competition was organised for senior students of classes IX to X on the similar theme. A large number of students participated in the competition with great zeal and enthusiasm. They decorated their Essay sheets with pictures showing beautiful moments spent with their Mothers. They also gave captivating captions with each picture.
On this occasion, a special assembly was conducted by the students of Pre-Nursery wing of the School. The tiny tots read out poems depicting their emotions, respect and love for their Mother. A dance performance was given by the cherubs which mesmerised everyone present there.
On 13th May 2017, the senior students of the School conducted a special assembly to celebrate this special day. It started with a prayer invoking the blessing of the Almighty. It was an emotional moment when the middle section students sang beautiful song “Meri Maa” composed by Mr. Jacob Mattoo, Music Teacher. Everyone present there had tears of happiness and joy. Thereafter the significance of Mother’s role in our life was highlighted through a mime act which compelled everyone to think about their responsibility towards their Mothers. To lighten the gravity of the situation a beautiful dance performance was given by the students of classes VII & VIII on the song “Maawan”. One lively dance was performed by little divas of DPS Jammu. The purpose of the whole celebration was to promote bonding among the Mothers.
While addressing the gathering, Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra sensitized the students that the duty of the children is to love, respect and support their Mothers and always be with them even in adverse situations of life.
Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress DPS Jammu while wishing every Mother on Mother’s Day said howsoever busies we are in our daily lives, we should never forget to whom we owe our existence.
Hon’ble President, RCT, M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji also conveyed their best wishes to everyone on this auspicious day.
