DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL JAMMU ORGANIZES AN INTERACTIVE SESSION ON ‘EARTHQUAKE MANAGEMENT’

DPS Jammu organised an interactive session on ‘Earthquake Management’ for students and staff during the ongoing summer camp in the school. The session was conducted by Mr. Alok Nanda, disaster management expert and President’s Medal Awardee from Jammu. As an expert, he has been conducting workshops on Earthquake Management since last 18 years in Jammu and all over India. The prime objective of the workshop was to provide an interactive platform for the participants to know what to do in case of an earthquake in order to reduce damage and injury caused by it to the minimum.
The Resource Person explained the importance of effective disaster management and the need of disaster prevention, mitigation & preparedness in today’s time. Through power point presentations, he displayed tools and instruments which could be used during relief & recovery of wounded people so that they could assist the society in the hour of need. He trained the students and the teachers to use various methods in case of earthquake without getting panic. This was followed by a question and answer round with the students and the teachers.
Towards the end of the session, the Resource Person gave certain standard guidelines when faced by the disaster. The workshop concluded with the felicitation ceremony by the Principal DPS Jammu, MS. Ruchi Chabra. She thanked Mr. Alok Nanda for sparing his time for training and guiding the teachers and the students. Headmistress, Ms. Meenu Gupta urged the students and teachers to take safety tips in case of any kind of disaster.
Hon’ble President RCT, M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director Mr. S. S. Sodhi Ji also wished a safe stay in school for all the teachers and students.
