DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATED WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

DPS Jammu celebrated World Environment Day during the ongoing Summer Camp in the school today. As this year India is hosting World Environment Day on the theme '‘Beat Plastic Pollution,'’ to particularly raise awareness about banning "single-use-plastic," the school organized number of activities to drive home the point. During the special assembly held on the occasion, both staff and students took Environment pledge read by Tavishi, VIII-F to reaffirm their commitment for a cleaner, greener and sustainable planet. Karen, VIII-C and Sargam Gandotra, VIII-G delivered impressive speech on '‘How I can make a change,'’ in light of Environment issues.
The school choir presented a melodious group song based on the theme of the day- ‘Beat the Plastic Pollution’. This was followed by a mesmerizing skit in 'Nukkad Natak' style on 'Say No To Plastic' presented by the students of Ganga House. During the rest of day, the students were engaged in Plantation Drive, Poster Designing, Making Bird-feeders and hanging them on the trees in the school campus and taking out an 'Environment Awareness Rally.'
Earlier, the prayer was read by Sudhanshu, VIII-F, while compering was done by Aarika Verma, VIII-B and Siya Gupta, VIII-B.
Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra urged the gathering to make serious efforts to discard single-use-plastic and show the world that greener and cleaner earth can be created through individual 'green commitments' made by the DIPSITES.
Headmistress, DPS Jammu, Ms. Meenu Gupta drew the attention of students towards the pressing environmental concerns and the need for collective stringent measures for protecting, conserving and restoring the degraded environment.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji extended their best wishes on the occasion of World Environment Day.
