PRINCIPAL, DPS JAMMU ADDRESSES STAFF ON HOW TO RELIEVE STRESS

Friday, July 20, 2018

Given the fact that the pressure of achievement can lead to academic stress and anxiety among many school children and affect their mental and physical well-being, Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra addressed a meeting of the core school members on this issue here today. She said that school staff should ensure that the school environment is made harmonious, happy and stress–free for the children to help them achieve their full potential.

Sharing her 25 years of experience in Educational field, she said that today’s highly competitive environment, equally high bar of expectations and heavy workload makes it imperative for the teachers, students and their parents to understand the coping mechanisms to handle various types of pressures. She added that being in classroom settings, teachers could pay attention to the manifested symptoms of stress and anxiety in children such as, isolation, headaches, anger outbursts and multiple errors in the notebooks, to be able to give them timely and proper guidance.

She further suggested some useful ways for creating a stress-free environment in the school, such as, connecting with the children, talking about their observations, focusing on acceptance rather than criticism and identifying their core strengths.

The Principal urged the members to carry out self-introspection and challenge their own existing perception of the opposites - good or bad, light or dark, etc and consider them all in the light of one pure universal energy, functioning at varying levels of human awareness, in order to lead and inspire more wholesome living.
