DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU IN COLLABORATION WITH SMVD NARAYANA SUPERSPECIALITY HOSPITAL, KATRA & JMBC ORGANIZES PLANTATION DRIVE

With the support and blessings of H.E. Sh. N.N Vohra Ji, Hon'ble Governor, J&K state, a "Green Cyclothon" to promote Cycling and Plantation was organized at DPS Jammu. It was a joint initiative undertaken by SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Katra and DPS Jammu in association with more than 200 members of Jammu Masters Badminton Champions, Jammu Cyclist Club, Addict Bikers Club, NCC and JMBC. In this historic initiative, more than 100 saplings of huge variety of medicinal and ornamental plants were planted across the school campus by the enthusiastic cyclists from different walks of life along with the staff & students of DPS Jammu in presence of Dr. M.K Kumar (IFS), Additional CEO, SMVDSB who was also the Chief Guest on the occasion, Dr. (Brig.) Manmohan Harjai, CEO, SMVDNSH, Mr. S. Sarvanan, President, JMBC, Guests of Honour on the occasion and Management, DPS Jammu.

The Cyclothon was flagged off at 5:30am from Police HQ, Jammu and covered around 10 Kms. distance before reaching DPS Jammu. The cyclists were accorded a warm welcome by the School Band, student participants and the school staff amidst rhythmic N.C.C clapping. The Plantation Drive was actively carried out by everyone, including the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and School Management amidst the cheerful rendition of the DPS Song by the school choir.

The students presented an inspiring group song "Ma Dharti Teri God Me” and a motivational skit on "Say No to Plastic" which won a huge applause. Principal DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra said that it was heartening to see people of Jammu coming together to take ownership of their environment. She also administered a "Green Pledge" to the gathering. The Chief Guest Dr. M.K Kumar thanked the school team for their support and also extended his best wishes to all. Later, the members of different clubs and associations were felicitated by him and the school Management. Also present on the occasion were Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress, Mr. C.L Malhotra, Mr. Karandeep Singh, Mr. R.C Gupta, Mr. M.L Mehra, Mr. Ravi Kotroo, Mr. Umesh Sharma and Mr. B.S Jamwal.

Hon'ble Director, DPS Jammu Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji, on behalf of the Management DPS Society, New Delhi and DPS Jammu thanked Hon'ble Governor for his able and inspiring Leadership, Chief Guest Dr. M.K Kumar, Guests of Honour and the Management of SMVDH, Mr. Sujit Khare, Marketing Head & Mr. Rohit Sharma, Marketing Manager, SMVDH, Dr. Jagdish Sharma, Social Activist along with the parents of the school children for their support and cooperation. He also assured that DPS Jammu will continue to take such green initiatives for the purpose of awareness and healthy environment. He also appealed all private and government institutions to take lead to organize green and clean activities so that our state becomes a leading Green State of India.
