DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES BHARAT UTSAV

DPS Jammu celebrated 72nd Independence Day with patriotic fervor and zeal. A cultural programme titled ‘Bharat Utsav’ was organized on the occasion. The Chief Guest Smt. Sushma Chauhan (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Samba presided over as Chief Guest on the occasion. Sh. S.S Sodhi, Director, DPS Jammu was the Guest of Honour. The Programme started with the balloon release by the guests, management, staff and students and a warm welcome accorded by the school band and N.C.C Cadets.
The cultural programme comprised of rich variety of following items:-
Semi Classical dance performance paying tribute to the Nation, Classical Dance performance paying tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Mati Pukare’-Showcasing glimpses of culture and heritage of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh, Patriotic Poetry Recitation and Patriotic Group Song. All presentations won huge applause from the audience.

The Guest of Honour, Sh. S.S Sodhi, Director, DPS Jammu in his address reminded the students of the sacrifices made by the great freedom fighters and urged everyone to serve their motherland with heart & soul.
The Chief Guest, Smt. Sushma Chauhan in her address asked the students to follow the path shown by our great leaders and advised them to work towards liberating India from the clutches of social evils like poverty, corruption and illiteracy. She congratulated the students and the staff for their brilliant performance. Both Chief Guest & the Guest of Honour also released the Alumni newsletter ‘Rencontre’ on this occasion.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra presented the vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude for the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour for their valuable presence and also thanked the staff & students for the grand success of the event. Also present on the occasion was Mr. Raj Kumar Verma, Principal, DPS Nagbani & Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress, DPS Jammu among others. The Programme was compered by Ikjyot Singh Gujral (XII-J) and Tarini Magotra (IX-A).
The programme came to an end with the National Anthem.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji & Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji expressed their greetings for Independence Day and urged the students to become responsible citizens and serve the nation whole heartedly.
