HON’BLE DGP, JKP & CHAIRMAN, J&K STATE RIFLE ASSOCIATION, SH. DILBAG SINGH JI INAUGURATES 9TH J&K STATE SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP AT DPS JAMMU

J&K State Rifle Association in collaboration with Delhi Public School, Jammu inaugurated 9th J&K State Rifle Shooting Championship on 10th March, 2019 at the shooting range of Delhi Public School, Jammu. Sh. Dilbag Singh Ji, Hon’ble Director General of Police and Chairman, J&K State Rifle Association was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Chief Guest and the other dignitaries - Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble President, RCT & Chairman/Trustee of the school, Rajkumar Ranvijay Singh Ji, Trustee, Maharaja Hari Singh Social & Education Foundation, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, President, J&K Rifle Association, J&K, Sh. S. S. Sodhi Ji, Hon’ble PVC/Director, DPS Schools, all other members of the J&K Rifle Association & dignitaries were given a rousing reception by the school’s Pipe and Flute Band, Principal DPS Jammu Ms. Ruchi Chabra, Principal DPS Nagbani Mr. Raj Kumar Verma and were escorted to the shooting range by the NCC cadets. The Chief Guest fired inaugural shots at the range and declared the Shooting Championship Open.
The Chief Guest was felicitated with a memento of houour and gratitude by Sh. M. K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, President, Rajput Charitable Trust. Director-DPS Jammu, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji felicitated Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji and Rajkumar Ranvijay Singh Ji with mementoes. President, J&K Rifle Shooting Association, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal in his welcome address informed that about 300 shooters from across the state will compete for top honours in under 15, 18, 21 and open categories. He also stated that shooting sport is a prominent sport in India and has made our country proud in Olympics, Common Wealth Games and other competitions from time to time.
This was followed by cultural programme put up by the children - Ganesh Vandana, a classical dance rendition, prepared by Ms. Ritu Dogra and Sufi Qawali put together by Mr. Joy Paul, which was highly appreciated by all.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. S. S. Sodhi Ji, Hon’ble PVC/Director, DPS Schools expressed his heartiest thanks to Sh. Dilbag Singh Ji, Hon’ble Chief Guest for helping the school authorities in setting up of the first shooting range in DPS Jammu & J&K state to enable the students and others to learn shooting, participate in state and national level tournaments and bring laurels to the school and their parents by winning medals, not only at state but at national level also.
The Chief Guest in his address spoke very high about DPS Jammu and appreciated the efforts of the school Management and Authorities in grooming the students in curricular and co-curricular activities. He also appreciated the role of the President, J&K Rifle Association, Sh. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal and his team for training the shooters of the state and offered to readily adopt and train those talented shooters who have the ability to perform at International level.
He also felicitated meritorious alumni and shooters of DPS Jammu along with all members of J&K Rifle Association. He further lauded the efforts of the school administration and J&K Rifle association for setting up and putting to effective use of the very first private shooting range at DPS Jammu and advised the fast paced young generation to remain connected to their roots and avoid overuse of social media.
The vote of thanks was presented by Sh. M. K. Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble President, RCT & Chairman/Trustee of the school. Sh. Amjad Parvez Mirza, IPS (Ret. SSP)-General Secretary, J&K Rifle Association, Chairman-Advisory Committee, Sh. Jaipal Singh, Members of Advisory Committee, Sh. V. S. Pathania and Sh. Samar Dev Singh, Chairman-Technical Committee, Sh. Rajesh Virdhy and members of Technical committee, Sh. Vijay Kumar, Sh. Jagdish Singh, Sh. Tarun Dev Singh, Sh. Vishal Mehra & Smt. Deepika Jamwal were also present on the occasion.
