Deputy Commissioner Jammu graces 'Investiture Ceremony 'at Delhi Public School Jammu

Delhi Public School, Jammu held its 21st Investiture Ceremony “Sankalp se Natritv ki Aur” 2019-20 with great zeal and pomp on 30th August, 2019. Mrs. Sushma Chauhan (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Sh. S.S Sodhi, Director, DPS Jammu was the Guest of Honour. The event was attended by around 4500 students and 300 teachers from the middle and senior wings of the school. All the dignitaries, escorted by NCC Cadets and Girls Pipe Band, were accorded a formal welcome.
The programme commenced with the Rajasthani Folk Song ‘Padharo Mhare Des’ followed by the Decoration Ceremony of 100 students holding different offices of the School Council and Prefects, who presented an exemplary March Past to the tune of the school Band. They took pledge to uphold the school motto “Service Before Self” in high esteem and to perform their duties to the best of their abilities.
The Chief Guest, Mrs. Sushma Chauhan (IAS), D.C Jammu congratulated the school cabinet in her address and emphasized on the importance of pursuing what one is capable of and exhorted the students to carry out their duties with sincerity, dedication and commitment. She also spoke very high about the school. She further stated that now a day's technology is so fast that the present generation knows even more than us in many cases. So we must keep a check on them so that they use the said knowledge for positive and meaningful purpose. She also added that there are many Govt. schemes and initiatives like Beti Padao Beti Bachao, Ban on use of plastic material, Drug Abuse and Fit India movement for the welfare of the society in which all must participate for a better Nation. .
The Principal, DPS Jammu, Ms. Ruchi Chabra advised the members of the students Council to act honestly, diligently and responsibly. She also administered the oath to the newly appointed Cabinet.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. S.S Sodhi, Hon’ble Director, DPS Jammu thanked Mrs. Sushma Chauhan for gracing the occasion as Hon’ble Chief Guest and sparing her valuable time out of her busy schedule and inspiring the students and staff of the school with her valuable words which will go a long way to help the students in their lives. Sh Sodhi also appreciated her role as Deputy Commissioner Jammu and on many assignment which she held in the past where she worked for the betterment of the society. All the staff members and students of the school feel proud of her presence on this occasion.
Earlier, a mesmerizing dance performance ‘Ajab kiya singaar bhawani’ depicting women empowerment was presented by the students in Kathak style in addition to the DPS Song and a soulful tribute to the school ‘You Raise me up’ which was sung by the School Choir.
The vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Meenu Gupta, Headmistress, DPS Jammu, while the whole programme was anchored by Neilabh Sharma (XII-B) & Sohi Sharma (XI-G) along with Ms. Neha Mahajan & Ms. Payal Sharma. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji thanked the Hon’ble Chief Guest for gracing the occasion & blessing the children on the path of their duties.
