DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, JAMMU CELEBRATES GANDHI JAYANTI

To inculcate the spirit of peace, love, harmony and brotherhood, the Primary wing of Delhi Public School, Jammu celebrated the joyous occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastriji’s birthday through Special Assembly and Peace March in the school premises today. The assembly began with floral tributes to the great national personalities and a prayer, followed by pledge. Kyna of class II-J presented the thought of the day. Students of class I presented a melodious song exalting the principles and values held high by Mahatma Gandhiji. A musical skit depicting the life sketch of Mahatma Gandhiji was also performed by the students of class I. It was coordinated by Ms. Payal Tandon of Pre-primary wing. Ms. Pooja Pandoh of Primary wing highlighted the ideals of Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastriji in her impressive compering on the occasion. Gandhiji’s favourite bhajan Vaishnav Jan was beautifully rendered by the students of class II. Draviya of class I-i spoke about the inspirational life of this great national hero. She highlighted the principles and values which formed the basis of the freedom struggle fought by Gandhiji : “Satya Ahimsa Permo Dharma”. Students commemorated ‘Dandi March’ by taking out a Peace Rally in the school premises, wearing khadi and cotton attire and holding placards with quotes and teachings of Gandhiji. Later in the classroom, children pasted the pictures of Mahatma Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastriji in their scrapbooks and wrote few lines about them. Headmistress Ms Meenu Gupta appreciated the great efforts put in by the students and teachers urged them to imbibe the teachings of Gandhiji in their life. Principal DPS Jammu Ms Ruchi Chabra paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation and Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastriji and said that ideals of compassion, patience, brotherhood and amity need to be inculcated in the children early on. Mr. Ravi kotroo Dy. Headmaster and Ms Preeti Abrol were also present on the occasion. The Vote of Thanks was presented by the Academic Coordinator-Ms Richa Gupta. Hon’ble President, RCT, Sh. M.K Ajatshatru Singh Ji, Hon’’ble PVC, Kunwrani Ritu Singh Ji and Hon’ble Director, Sh. S.S Sodhi Ji conveyed their best wishes on the occasions of Gandhi Jayanti to all the students and staff of the school and also blessed them for their bright future.
